Evo Truck steering mod for any micro servo!

Well after a long time of pondering I finally came up with the solution for a steering mod that uses all the stock components of the suspension and allows for the use of any micro servo. I am just about to buy the servo but I though I would post this preview first. My goal is to use all high quality elecs instead of the stock stuff. The ESC is a DTX 1000 which is very powerful and precise at this scale and allows for 4.8V.

In the link to the pictures, on the last couple pages you can see the new mod. It took some precise trimming here and there but over all ended up being quite simple. You must get all your angles right for the leverage to work proper. Just mimic the pics and your set!

The other link is to a small movie of the movement.

Email me at maxxitout@hotmail.com if you have any questions. I'll post the pics with the servo added soon. Also you can see many of the other mods I have done. Email for questions on those too.

It allows the use of any servo for aftermarket electrical gear instead of the limited stock units. Was that not obvious?

Ok, here is the link to the completed install:

I updated the gallery with the latest, finished pictures too. I used a JR 241 Sub Micro with 17oz at 4.8V. It works extremely good!!

The items I used were two plastic servo mounts, any kind are fine as long as they are not too tall, the 241 JR servo, a Duratrax ESC1000 (the ESC5000 has more output but is too punchy and not good at slow speed) and a 3 channel Futaba receiver. Both the ESC and the RX were removed from their cases and wrapped with elec tape to reduce the area needed. The RX lays on the chassis behind the servo. Bend the plug pins and crystal holder (with a solder iron) enough for it to fit under the servo some and allow the ESC to rest flush on top. I'll shoot a pic of mine all done soon, finishing touches on the antenna now.

Sorry, tired, wasn't thinking. Didn't know why you'd want to put a different servo in. But I'm partially awake now, I get it.
