Yes, a resister will work. You could also use a potentiometer or variable resister so you can dial in the speed you want.

thanks for you reply! I will try to find an appropriate resisitor...the variable on sounds even better but I hope to find one that small.

The transistors do there job well, but changing fet's indeed is a good option as well.
