kinda sorta on topic...
nice... thats a gen one no?...
one thing... i know this isnt exactly the topic... but since you are messing around with shortened chassis... how about longer chassis... i have a 1/24 scale model body that i HAVE to get on a xmod evo... is it possible to stretch it out? maybe a spacer somewhere in it... and then i was thinking of making a custom center drive shaft so i could keep my awd... has it been done?
also where would you get bodies for a shortened chassis like that?.. if you do go that route...

i have no doubt someone has done an extended chassis. weither it's short or long, the only part required is an adjusted center shaft. other than the base chassis plate.

Many people have made extended chasis before. The biggest problem is making a driveshaft if you want to use awd.
Body or no body, I really like the shortened chasis. It is very well made and planned out. I always wanted to try my hand at carbon fiber.

the center shaft is the least of my worriez right now... im more interested in how to make the wheels off the model kit work on the xmods... they are nice drifting tires on them and they are scaled to the body so they are perfect in my eyes...
the thing is i want to use the original chassis and just need to find where to put an "extension" block between it... i'll drill out the area i need for the center shaft and use some of the sealed bearings for gen1 xmods that i have... and boom... now i just have to break down and tear appart my baby, the firebird, to do this project... maybe i could pick up another chassis to do this to... iono...

there are 2 chassis sizes fro the EVO's already. The pontiac is the shorter one. The Scion is also the shorter one. The Mustang and Infiniti G35 are both the longer chassis.
They are convertible to either length providing you have the spacers for both...the short chassis comes with the short space, the long chassis comes with the long spacer. Easiest to just buy either the Infiniti or Mustang and see if your body fits...

i have the mustang... but the thing is... going from 1/28th to 1/25th is a bit of a problem... mainly wheel base... even width might be a lil problem... but as for now im just looking for way to make a spacer... and i believe there are actually 3 different chassis lengths, as the awd kit has three different lengths of drive shafts... mustang and infinity being the longest... firebird is the middle... and im unsure of whats the small but i'd bet the lancer is... considering actual sizes of the vehicles...

i read somewhere that you can make a driveshaft out of a ballpoint pen tube, the middle part. take the metal bit off the end, and get rid of the ink. make sure you dont bend it.
btw, that short chassis rocks! i think it looks good without a body!

Drive shaft?
If you need a custom lenght driveshaft you could take the old one to a harware store and have them macth a piece of KS aluminuim or brass tubing/ cut it to length and if all else fails some JB weld will attach just about any gear to any metal. just make sure its straight.

i was thinking JB weld with the two other driveshafts that come in the AWD kits... then again maybe the long one from my truck AWD might be long enough also... and if worse comes to worse... it'll be RWD... but imma go for AWD all the way...
