Will not stop running.

Ok, I am new to this and this is my first ZZ. I purchased the Special Edition Goldfinger 007 model just because it was cheaper than the others and wnted to see what they were all about. Not too mention that I plan on actually taking it apart for the receiver chip inside to use in a robot later.

My problem I am having is that when I turn on the car it runs full blast. No matter what. I try to adjust the nuetral adjustment in the back of the remote with no luck. Also, it does not seem to want to run forward at all, it only runs in reverse. If I try to make it go forward, it only slows the reverse down a bit.

Any idea on this one?

Ok, I searched again through the forums and finally found someone who had a similar problem. I then took the motor back out and reseated it, it is a bit of a pain in the rear to do but I done it corretly this time. I found the help in this thread.

Thanks and I look forward to contributing my findings and tweaks to the forums.

I found that a few of the SE's, when the body was put on, would do something similar. There was a solder joint on the bottom of the pcb that would compress down and touch one of the metal connections going to the motor.

I think you solved your problem, but this still might be a cause for you. Reseating the motor might just have moved the pcb a little.

Welcome to the forums, and I appreciate you linking to a thread that helped and editing your post rather than posting a new one.

Your welcome. I wanted to change the topic to *resolved* but it would not let me.

I have found that when I assemble the FULL body to the car it does not want to steer correctly. It seems to put pressure on the front steering armature area. Causing it to not want to move at all. Also, one of the front wheels seems to be a bit looser than the other causing it to want to steer to the left at all times not matter what I do to the adjustments.

I am going to have to tweak and manipulate the front whell to get it too work, but as far as the body stress on the front steering arm, not sure yet how I will mod this to work.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

I also had a 007 body that did that same thing too, well my younger brother's to be exact. I tried to cut away from the front of the body to make it fit easier. I had success getting it to fit.

Steering can get touchy too... perhaps some of the trim could get it to go straight. I know I've had a lot of trouble where one wheel will get a hair wrapped up inside. I still haven't found an easy way of getting the hub off to get the hair out. Tweezers don't really work either.

Good luck though, it's nice to have people around that approach problems with ways to fix them rather than, "I'm just going to take it back."

Nah it is not a hair. I can actually see it is more loose around the axle then the other side is. It needs something to tighten it up. it tends to lean a bit giving it the effect of a slight left turn at all times. I have an idea if I can get it apart to get too it. I will have to wrap some wire or string around the back of ot or maybe a shot of hot glue. Just something to it in place. Since the wheel spins around the axle it will not matter if I glue it down and hot glue is not as harsh as super glue which can never be removed. ;o)

I had the idea of shaving the front as well or taking a warm approach with the soldering iron and maybe melt back the slot where it snaps in place on the body. Just make it a bit deeper to see if it helps. I need to break down and buy myself a drimmel.

I look forward to geting more into these little guys to give me and my kids something to tinker with. We also work with the BOE-BOTs which led me to this site to begin with.

I purchased the ZZ just to take it apart and using the RF receiver and transmitter add to my robot to give it RC control. But now I kinda dig these little guys a bit so I will wait till one breaks or when a MOD goes bad before robbing the parts for the bot. I have some other toys the kids broke I can use for the bots anyways, but there is a tutorial that uses the ZZ guts. Anyways, thanks again for input and help.
