New zzse's! Not discontinued afterall!

I've heard that there are new zzse's comming out. Yay! Maybe this fall. No info on what they are going to be like though. Anyone have any ideas what the cars might be like?

Yeah, I've seen this rumor flying ariound the forums lately. Good news to me if it's true. I hope for improvements in the SE as good as those they've done in the Pixar cars chassis. The Pixar cars are much better than any other original Zip design to date. If they can do something similar to the SEs, I'd be very interested.
Come to think of it, there's only a couple of things they need to do to the SE's to make em perfect.
1. Make the steering full propo. That's the biggie for me.
2. Make the throttle full propo.
3. Lower the bodies slightly.
Smaller, more to scale tires and rims would be nice. But, I don't look for that to happen as it wouldn't be compatible with older bodies and accessories and such.
I wonder about the fate of MTs though. No one has said anything about new MTs coming along.

Aaaaah geez! and here I was running around HOARDING SEs in preparation of their supposedly coming doom!

Oh well, it's not all bad, now I can feel a little more at ease about modifications knowing there'll be more coming!

Yeah, that's a nice dream to have man. I'd love to see that too, but unless some breakthrough in RC electronics miniaturization comes around sometime soon, that ALSO makes everything cheaper...I just don't see RadioShack doing it.

I mean take a look at that micro car, the Metl Tech. That thing is SMALL, but for them to do it they had to set some pretty exhobitant prices. I,myself, would've still considered buying it but I can't see spending the cash and getting that cheezy Tx!

Same here. I did the same thing the last time they "discontinued" SEs. Around the time of the Starsky and Hutch car.

I dunno. It could be done now considering how cheap Iwaver boards are. It may add a couple of bucks to an SE. Which is why I don't understand why RS didn't opt for a 30.00 price tag on SE's all along and gave us true propo. Bidness men.

I think those prices may have more to do with the motors and battery than component parts on the PCB. I could be wrong. And, I agree about the TX. If only some after market TX would work the cars, I'd consider buying.

Are the Metl Tech cars available? If so, where can you buy them on line?
Thanks,
Hugo

Azimov,
Thanks for the link.
Are there any pictures of the Metl Tech chassis without the body?

Yes, but I don't remember where. I think there may be a thread on them over at BitPimps. Maybe posted by TeamBonzer. It would be an old thread, so you may have to look a bit.

I'm surprised they didn't do a tie-in for F&F:TD, since they made promo cars for the other F&F movies. (edit: although, after checking wikipedia, I think they may have already covered some of the cars in TD.)

My source tells me that ZZs will be continued, but no longer marketed by Radio Shack. He did not know who would have them for sale. I am unable to verify this information; any credibility you desire to place in it is just your own. Wish I knew this info to be reliable.

Interesting. I kinda hope the info is correct. It could mean much wider options for outlets to buy them. It could also mean better improvements in the product line since the corporate limits on final retail price may soften.
Honestly, the consumer would see a dramatic difference in quality if the SEs were manufactured to hit a 30-40.00 price range. True propo would be possible.
Then again, a distributor war could ensue that would kill the product over personal greed and power mongering as with the Epochs.
