Sorry to veer off the main topic here...But I wonder what Japan is like for Electronis stores. They're just so many light years ahead when it comes to tech geeky gadgets.

Hell, they're probably selling cathodes and ICs in the candy stores!

Good question. Makes me wonder about Germany too.

Oh yeah, no doubt that stuff in RS is way overpriced.
I peaked behind a desk where the cash register is in RS the other day, and my jaw droped. There were like 20 Xmods controllers in a basket on the floor and I bet there was other cool junk there as well. Almost makes me want to get a job there just so I can get my hands on what many consider "useless" components and parts. Things I could do with all of that junk, Hmmm.

I dont know about Japan, but in Ukraine, they sell parts savaged from old electronics almost everywhere. They are very cheap too. The prices are so low because most of the components are sold by individuals and not money hungry stores.

Hehe, yep, we hold on to most junked Xmods at my store.

I personally have the rights to Zip Zaps stuff, which usually means grabbing the body off of a junked ZZ car and tossing the rest, or keeping the whole thing in the case of a ZZ MT.

Once I got an MT back whose controller had failed.
The truck was (and is ) still good!

Many RS employees grab scrap stuff, repair it and sell it on Ebay.

I don't because I want them all for me, and the resale value isn't worth the trouble to post them.
