Question Portable Stand alone charger question

I want to make a portable stand alone charger for my Zcar, using its charging mount and connecting it to this cheap controller. (For one of those $1 wired up micros rcs you might see at the Dollar General.) The controller uses two double A batteries(3.0v) instead of the Zcar's controller three triple A batteries(4.5v), meaning I would have to charge the car for fifteen seconds longer(while holding down the forward and reverse buttons) than as if I used the Zcar's controller. Already figured out where everythin's gonna' go, but my biggest question is if this lack of 1.5volts would be bad for the Zcar's battery?

I'm confused as to why you want to do this mod? The stock Zcar "pod" is already a portable charger...Are you trying to break it down into something smaller?

No, the lesser voltage won't hurt the car. If I recall correctly the car uses the same battery as a Bit so the 3.0v is fine.

Thanks for the help Namuna, I've already got the car charging on it and it works great! The main reason I wanted to do this mod was so I can safely charge it on something else and be able to control it with my Monster truck controller, this'll hold me down until I can dual cell it and then be able to charge it the MT controller, or buy a soldering iron so I can fix the broken wires going to the antenna in my Zcar's controller. Thanx for the help !

Question Is this really considered a "mod"?

Sorry but That mod still sounds pointless even with the monster truck remote soooo....hmmm, i don't know what else to say.

I guess I could introduce you to motorworks. I have the black one but in red paint though these are the greatest cars in my opinion(but should be fact) so instead of buying a $1 car, buy a car that'll be worth modding . Oh yeah not my pic.

Dude, those motorworks look sweet! Where can you get them and how much are they? If they can use some of my Zip zaps stuff I might just save up and buy one. Fill me in on em' man.

Wink

They don't make 'em anymore but I'm pretty sure every once in a while you can get em online. They originally came from Wal-Mart, prices ranging from $10.99-$15.99. They come with a hardwired motor that's 2.6 and has killer torque. Turning isn't anything special unless you have the Zip-Zap springs in 'em. They are the same size as Microsizers. Can do wheelies right out of the box. Has the best tires any car this size has but wear out so fast. You can get a wider rear axle and wider tires on the last models. They come with extra things you can put on your body like a fin or gun (if you have the humvee). The battery is same (100 maH) as the other ones. They run for a longer time and charge less than a Zip-Zap. Oh yeah if you want to change the pinion gear to a red or blue one you have to change the metal bar to a Zip-Zap one instead. And that's about it. My pic I was gonna sell it on ebay.

Cool

These motorworks sound pretty cool, less charge time, more run time, good price... I'm definitely going to look into finding one, thanx for the info Snake mod.
