battletank.de seems to be sold out (ausverkauft).
I mailed them in the beginning of this year and they replied ; leider nicht (unforunatly not).
personally I gave up looking for webstores who sell combatdigiQ, discouraged by the words: sold out
maybe I'll start looking again when I get a new searchengine or so.
my collection holds the 4 different rotatingtanks, a tiger and two sherman's not rotating. I also own a tankara digiQ mothra (compattible with konami's), I'm still looking what it does exactly, but it's a killer for shure. (picture below)
the digisound from bit-racer does look complicated, however the earlier receivers are pretty straight forward, I'll try them first when I come to it. somewere it is mentioned that you can buy a massproduced IR receiver made for LIRC (Linux Infra Red Control?) but I don't know what type. and if it's one made for laptops, it will have a (too) limited range for the use.

soldering in replacement internal batteries
I hate soldering irons.
A bagillion swear words and two hours later, I managed to get the ground lead soldered onto the pcb. I think I needed to have five sets of hands. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the hot lead (red wire) to solder on and I think I fried the circuit board.
One mistake was that I did not completely disassemble the tank, so I was working in a cramped, tiny chassis. I was constantly hitting and subsequently melting various areas of the chassis.
If anyone has any better suggestions on replacing the internal batteries of the Combat Digi Q tanks, I'm all ears.
From now on, I'm thinking of just cutting the leads to the bad battery and splicing on the leads from the replacement.

soldering on digiQ is certainly testing to say the least, I use a 8w solderingiron from weller.
I remember that I cursed like a drunken sailor the last time. sticking the digiQ to the table with something sticky also helps.Hier die Lösung, ohne das man die Platine auslöten muss.
cutting and splicing the wires is the easyest method of replacing the batteries.
you can solder the redwire directly onto the charching point on the pcb without removing the pcb. ist seems that you only bypass the internal fuse when doing this. the black wire? dunno. (this mod is specially for shortcircuited digiQ's but maybe there's some ideas that can be used)
take a look at this.

epoxy,
Thanks for the tip on soldering the red wire to the charging point. That helps!
I finally tracked down the last of the rotating tanks I needed. I'll now have one of each rotating, plus three Shermans, four tigers, and one panther. I'm going to offer the extras up to some of my friends, then the rest will go on ebay.
Now focusing on the sound system. Lost out on two others over the weekend, damn.

wow, two more soundsystems were available?
howmuch did they go for?
I can't seem to find any at all. I wonder, do the tanks have individual sounds acording to the soundcard? or does it use a "blank" soundcard with standard sounds?
did anyone ever buy a digiQ train? i'm still trying to find out if konami ever sold any in the US. (or anywhere else outside asia).

Yep, one of the sets had the tower, 2 combat digi Q cards, and 2 special effects cards (for the Godzilla, Mothra, etc). It went for over $200.00. The second one had the tower and one digi Q formula card. It went for around $110.00.
As far as I can tell, each sound card is preprogrammed with two sets of sounds. Then, depending on the assigned ID and the signal of the controller, the card determines the type of tank being operated and generates the sounds for that tank. This website explains it a lot better:

Not sure about the trains making it to the US, but the DigiQ cars are all over Europe.

special soundcards for mothra/godzilla/formula? very interesting.
finding them for sale is nearly impossible I supose, did you ever see any soundcards sold seperate?
I'm getting real frustrated overhere when I hear about all of this I want a tankata scubagear soundcard NOW!!!!
back to reallity
yes, the little racecars are not so hard to come by, and sell for a lot cheaper. I don't own one, are the formuladigiQ any good? I would like to have one with the special controller, maybe I'll keep an eye out for it. a 4baycharger for my tanks would be nice too.
I'm still looking for the courage to start soldering on a IR receiver. it can't be that difficult? (ahum).

epoxy,
I have an extra 4-bay charger. If you're interested, contact me off forum or send me a PM.
Back to your message. I don't think that the digi Q cars are much more popular than any other micro rc car. Personally, I have no interest in the cars. I just see them a lot more often than the tanks.
I see the sound cards by themselves every once in a while, but they're not much use without the tower. I'd prefer to get the whole set together, which is why I bid agressively when I see them.

that does it, it's going down, I'm going to do it.
I'll try to solder a IR receiver for digiQsound for PC.
I'll just have to make it work! (bold words)
if anyone is (still) interested, I'll take some pics and post them here. make somesort of DIY faq.
that is, IF i get it to work

obviously I never had to do the work myself,
I just ordered one ready made from a ebaystore.
is wasn't expensive and works like a charm.
