So yea I Just went out to buy one... steering issues
They had nothing but corvettes and monster trucks, so my friends and I bought the corvettes. We go home, install it, and the Initial D set, and I excited goto play it. IT works fine, it goes straight and back. Then I try steering, and it wont steer at all. I hear a buzzing noise whenever i try steering, but the motor doesnt move. Any ideas? If not I'm going to return it. 1 works fine, mine's busted, 3rd is a mystery (not opened).

Sounds to me like yours may be a defect. If after attempting to adjust the steering (as outlined in the manual/pamphlet) it still doesn't steer properly, exchange it at your local RS store.
BTW, the Monster Trucks are a real blast to play with, highly recommended -

Thanks for the reponse and suggestion. Actually I think there's something wrong with it, it wont turn.. at all. Like there's no even attempt from the R/C itself to show that its even attempting to turn, besides the normal "chatter". Overall, even before I raced it, I was quite pleased with the design and the lights haha. I'm about to give my friend the 3rd one tomorrow before I attempt to exchange it (I rather do it once than twice).
Its a 600-7049 model made in 09A04 if thats any help to anyone.

the same thing happened to me, and i thought that the car was defected. but after i took off the body, the steering was fine. so after some expiermenting, i found out that when i put the body on, the front tab where the body sits on, is pressed back, hitting the steering pinion, stopping it from moving. so try to steer with the body of, it that works, then you just have to change your body.

Bingo kehern15, you just confirmed what may have gone wrong with my Austin Martin DB5... Yeah, I had the same problem!
Before I initially placed the body on the chassis on my newly purchased zz, I tested the motor and the steering to make sure it worked properly. It all seemed to work fine until I placed the body on the chassis (which fit more snuggly then any of my other bodies). I noticed that the steering was a louder than my previous test and it did not want to turn to the left. Upon a closer inspection, I noticed that on the front tab where the body locks on, is pressed back, hitting the steering pinion, stopping it from moving. Unfortunately, after I fully discovered and tested my theory the steering conked out all together.
I suppose it’s just a rare defect and I'm gonna replace it tonight with another Austin martin DB5. But I wonder if this is a common problem with all the Auston Martin DB5's and Sting Ray's where the body fits very snugly?

Austin Martin DB5 body fix
Okay, I returned my 1st Austin Martin DB5 and got another one only to discover that the body issue on the Austin Martin DB5 was no fluke. The 2nd Austin Martin DB5's body was tight just like the previous one, causing the steering to jam. The only difference this time was that something was obstructing the motor and the rear wheels too.
Determined to keep the Austin Martin DB5 body and convinced that this is a common design issue with this model, I needed to figure out how relieve the pressure on the chassis and to remove any obstruction on the motor's gears and rear wheels.
1. 1st, I needed to remove the obstruction on the motor's gears and rear wheels: I discovered that the rear LED's were in the way. So, I just took a flat head screw driver and pressed the silver LED wires down until they were snugly against the inside of the body and out of the way.
2. Steering issue: I did not want to alter the chassis, so I decided that I needed to modify the Austin Martin DB5's body. I took a flat needle file and removed the plastic on the interior (behind the bumpers), removing a little more than a millimeter on each side. You will have to check your progress several times by fitting the body back on the chassis. Continue until you are happy with the results (until the steering moves freely). FYI: Most likely you will have filed through the brackets that hold the bumpers and front grill in place. Just put them back on when you are done and put a dab of super glue on the interior bracket.

As I said earlier I got 1 and it performed flawlessly.
Are you sure you're pushing the body all the way down so
that the front tab fits into the slot? Is the rear tab in the slot ?
If not that WILL cause the front tab to compress against the chassis and interfere with the steering.
