Could you explain for me the differences between the ZZ and the ZZSE motors, please? What is it that makes the ZZSE motor the better one? On what basis do you make your judgment?
Thank you.

stupidity runs rampant in 2006
supra77997 and guitarplaya3000--
Let me guess--you guys think I'm stupid (there are many who do). In a previous post I asked the following: "Could you explain for me the difference between the ZZ and the ZZSE motors, please?" It's been very obvious to me for a long time that they are the same motors! My suspicion was that neither of you knew that and I wanted you to find out if they indeed do differ. I'll grant that there are two different configurations requiring a different motor clip for one of those configurations, but the motors, regardless of the rpm, will fit in either the ZZ or the ZZSE. Only one of you could make the subjective judgment regarding a "better" motor, and that based on the fact it is "speed." But if I don't want speed then it's not the better motor, is it?
And while we're talking about those particular motors, Rich Nagel points out that RS specs show the higher rpm motors have more torque.
To get the new year off to a better start, I'll start doing some research and attempt to provide on my ZZ website a list of motors which have both satisfactory fit and performance as steering servo motors in ZZMTs. If gFunk will permit me to combine my data with his tutorial, I'll place it on my site.
All of us need to do a far better job with our homework before we post incorrect or useless information which only leads to confusion for others.
Other than that, have a happy one!

Thank you for your comment and confidence.
You've been on this forum long enough to know who are the reliable and thoughtful persons who post here. They are the ones who have given the topic some careful thought and attempt to respond with accurate and helpful information. They are the ones to whom you want to direct your questions because generally they'll be forthright in their answers. They'll let you know if they can be of help or not.
No doubt you've noticed those who have something to say about everything and, in reality, say little at all. Some of them just want to run up their post numbers so they can become known as "pro." When I reached that number and the forum labeled me a pro, I was embarassed because I knew I was not. I immediately changed it to "perpetual newbie" because that's pretty much where my mind wanders.
If you would permit me to do so, let me make several suggestions to continue you in good directions. First, search--look for previous threads on the topic you're exploring. Secondly, think carefully about the question you're asking or to which you're responding, then give it clear and concise writing (abbreviations and lack of punctuation won't work with some of us--we'll just ignore the thread). Thirdly, use your best imagination and creativity, being ready to admit that some things just don't work. And, fourthly, be ready to accept constructive criticism and offer praise and congratulations to others.
All this is said to you by an old-timer who has in his retirement still a moderate amount of knowledge and wisdom, who has been a model railroader for many years, and while being unable to drive ZipZaps with any great facility still loves to modify them and write about it.
I wish you well in this hobby. Throw at it the best of your creativity and thoughtfulness and let its satisfaction be your reward.

Check the battery, my Herbie Bug did the same thing. After working on a bunch of clones,ZZ and Microsizers, I recognize the symptons. All you have to do is move the battery a bit to re-establish the connection. Hope this helps.
