ARGH!! This is the LAST piece I need to get, and the waiting is killing me. CJ's is the only page I've seen so far that even mentions it (I can't find any of the Hong Kong sellers with it). I'm sure there'll wind up being a ton of them, ala the situation with the rear suspension arms, but I figured I could track down a silver pair somewhere on the internet.
BTW: LOVE the gunmetal GPM parts. When did they come out? I've got a GM motor can for a high-speed motor I'm building and love the style more than even polished aluminum. I just can't bring myself to by a new set of parts...so I think my brother is going to abandom his Enzo Mini-Z as his top of the line (just too hard to control with RWD, and not enough mod-ability) ride and get a similar setup to mine so we can have some reasonably even races, and he likes the gunmetal as much as I do.

Oh, I've got quite a nice little pic coming up with my v2.2. I've got some aluminum being waterjet cut right now, but probably next week or maybe the week after, I'll have pics of a very cool mounting harness for the 2.2. I haven't been able to use it without 4 AAAs yet, though, as I'm having some mounting plates cut with the turbo housing that hold the AA battery holders to the chassis. It is a worthy upgrade, though, as you will take electronics out of the equation in terms of a breaking point plus steering becomes extremely smooth (although I wish XMODS steering had more torque, as I have a real hard time getting a tight turn at high speed). My ride right now is virtually indestructible with the exception of those wheel axles. I can run up to 30 volts with 5 sustained amps (wires will fail beyond that) and have run head-on at full speed into another (plastic chassis) that was full blast on 6 cells with an AM SS130 and all that happened was I bent my front lock plate (got about 5 aluminum ones for just that purpose). But during that racing fiesta, I blew out 2 separate plastic AWD shafts (and lost numerous wheels, but that was because I was testing various lug nuts on a highly optimized suspension with no room for error.

I'm not gonna mass produce them mainly because I just don't want to do the work (I also have custom-fitted remote handles, but I just made a few and then ditched the mold) with folding the metal. Also, the assembly is somewhat custom-fit for mid-body cars (NSX) and due to how the thing is built, it is necessarily combined with a GPM rear deck plate, and because I use a custom antenna, the deck plate is modded with a large #4 screw for the antenna that has been insulated from the deck plate (and rest of the chassis) via some rubber dipping.
So long story short, a complete turbo + heatsink assembly would probably run about $100 total, and I don't think there is much of a market for a piece that expensive. Actually, I get asked every now and then if I'd think of making a line of fully aluminum turnkeys with my custom wiring stuff, but the thing is, it's quite a bit of work building one plus the whole kit (case & accessories) would run anywhere from $500 to $1500.

The Supra and RSX front lock plates are generic to the entire line. I think that long bodies use the Supra plates while mid-bodies use the RSX ones (I use the RSX one for my NSX, and it's exactly the same; I can't recall which one my friend's 350z is, but I recall it being the standard one as well).
I can't recall if GPM makes the front cup joints, but I don't believe so. AtomicMods has some custom ones that Will Hecox made (both front and back)

argh. got impatent and replaced the front cup with a stock replacement. 30 seconds later.. grenaded the cup again.
haha.
Examination:
outer edge of the small axle cup got mangled by the dogbone pins. outer edge of plastic cup is too thin.
theory:
i need to space the smaller axle cup outward, toward the dogbone more.. this will allow the more meaty part of the cup to hold the dogbone pins better. normally the pins ride on the outmost edge of the cup, which appears to be very weak.
The FIX:
put a wide bearing on the inside of the steering knuckle, which pushes the dogbone pins slightly further into the axle cup.
and now it works great, even on slightly broken cups.
Alternate fix: metal cups would prevent this, but i'll get them when
the full front axles/dogbones are available.

I use wide tracks, but I've busted a few recently. Broke the little tiny pin hinge, splitting it in 2. No cure for that outside all-metal, I guess.
BTW: I still haven't seen those things in stock at any of hte usual suspects. If I see them pop up (and I check almost daily so I can horde as many as I can), I'll post an update

Just got an email back from dinball re: those shafts. There is some problem with manufacturing that is holding them up. I guess it's gonna be a while longer, but I have no idea how long.

Awesome...should have a race right around then, and I'll be running lithium at that point, so the sturdier, the better.

GUYS! for all your aluminum needs, check atomicmods
Although they're a lil pricy...I believe you are looking for: XMOD Billet Aluminum Rear Axle Shafts (Blue)
