yeah I've been meaning to get a pin vise, but have gotten around to it. Thanks for the tip.

There's supposedly a red texalium chassis in the works. Really interested to see pics of that. I bet it'd look sweet with the red anodized GPM parts sitting on top!

I stumbled on this place a while back but never really looked to see what they had.

well, I finally got the chassis made, well almost. I still have a couple more holes to drill and parts to cut out. What really pisses me off is my damn dremel drill press. The damn thing wiggles when I'm trying to get a precise hole made and causes the holes to be off ever-so-slightly.

I might have to make another chassis after I get a real drill press, but we'll see how this one runs when I get it 100%.

The new switchblade chassis is really nice-looking, although I don't like integrated top-bottom chassis' in general, as I like to use the GPM parts where I can for weight purposes (I actually like more weight for the handlign). It's just electric purple which is almost pink, so it's a bit too bright for me. I keep meaning to cut up a texalium sheet into a replacement chassis (I'm on the last leg of my chassis enhancements, with the electronics, ESC painting, and shinier chassis replacement all that is left.)

CF is handful to accurately machine with common shop tools and attachments. After hand drilling the first 4-5 chassis with a titanium coated drill bit in a handheld bit holder and even trying an X-Y table with a small drill press, I finally broke down and bought diamond point bits. Fairly expensive, but when you mess up a chassis due to the bit wandering it is cheaper.

Horshu, I've changed suppliers for the Texalium, the sample chip I have is very nice.

Is your new texalium clearcoated on one side and dull on the other, or is it the red stuff? That's what mine looks like, with one side looking better than the tex chassis I got from your and other other looking much, much worse. I'm woefully behind on my waterjet cutting projects (foam for my XMODS briefcase and replacement/spare chassis'), so if another silver tex chassis or two comes available, I might just go that route.

Thanks for the drill bit tip I should be buying a drill press within the next week or so. The dreme drill press attachment has always caused me problems. One part of the press has play that allows the dremel to move side-to-side and I've tightned evry screw and bolt with no success.

CF is very tough I went through 3 Olson scroll saw blades, high quality precision ground blades too. Where can I buy those drill bits, Home Depot or on-line shops?

Red's a bit too far out of my color motif. The only deviations from silver I'll do are if a titanium chassis comes out (I'm actually surprised one hasn't shown up, since sheets are relatively easy to come by) and the mica blue paint job I'm doing to my ESC cover. Everything is silver (well, I just bought some blue and black wheels to go with two pairs of RS alloy wheels, so there's that, too)

Try Harbor Freight. Not as costly some quote "Hobbyists" tool suppliers. They have identical equipment to a leading online hobby tool supplier at a much lower price.

Horshu, yeah, a contrast between hardware and chassis is nice, make sure you post your newest project!
