hey guys, i just got my SSFL today and was wondering what type of cells you would use to do the 5 cell being talked about?? and where can i get them?

btw what other mods are there to do with an SSFL, i have an xmod and was hoping that the SS had the same potential .

ok, i wired up a 5 cell superslick and it was crazy fast,, after a while though the turbo died and when i would hit the button it would stop,,, i figured i fried something in there because i was holding down the turbo and driving it on carpet....

ive since transplanted a new circuit board into it and dropped one cell so its running on 4 now,, so far so good,, its fast and ive added some rally lego tires and its awsome on and off road,, i also modified the antenna to a stiff copper one.

next to make some wider wheels and tires

that looks great! I think you just overheated it and a wire came off or something. You might want to check that. Doesn't Lego make slightly less knobby tires that would look like rally tires instead of the monster tires that are on there now?

I was using two cells from old microsizers. I think you can purchase them through the tinyrc store.

As far as overheating goes i think i went more than overheating,, i checked all the wires and they were all connected correctly. I did smell something burning though so im guessing i fried something. I transplanted a new superslick pcb and dropped one cell(down to 4) it still has lots of power but just doesnt run as long,, still great fun,, we will see how long it holds up. I may change to a fully proportional iwaver pcb later on,, i think it can handle more voltage as well.

Lego probably makes some less agressive tires but i like these,, they have great grip on all surfaces. you have to remember that lego made two different hardnesses of this same tire,, you need the sticky ones otherwise they arent any good on hard surfaces.

These tires work awsome on carpet, hardwood floors, lenolium, dirty, cement... all around they are just awsome. I have since widened the rear wheels alot and the front a bit as well.. much better cornering now and much more stable.

ok cool cool, i have 2 extra tomy cells (lime green). is there any way that you can make a schematic on how i would wire an extra cell into an SS? is it still the original "turbo" cell that kicks in when you press the turbo button, while the extra cell is connected in parallel with the 2 non turbo cells.? and how do you go about charging all 4 cells?

thanks dude, its a shame that not many people are modding SSs still...

i had to remove the tri cell that comes stock and cut one of th e wires, i then wired in one more tomy cell + to - and then re connected it. The turbo still works as does the charger, you just have to charge it a few times to get a full charge. I dont have a tuttorial on it yet though. I found the way the turbo works is there is a green wire in there that splits up the batteries,, when you are in normal throttle its not getting power from all of the batteries, just two i think,, when you hit the turbo button you get the 3rd cell,, or in my case the 3rd and 4th cell so this sucker flies,, i think thats why i fried the turbo with 5 cells,, it was just too much for it

icic, cool. thanks for the info dude. if i wanted to run 3 cell w/o turbo, which wire would i break and instert the battery into? i would most likely like to break the + wire. so that would be the red wire that i break?

They are just small lego tires that you grind out the inside and streach it over the superslick wheels

in this picture its the one in the very top right corner

hope that helps
