I need more Torque! and an impreza body

First off ive been using my new zzse with the purple motor and red gears and its great for speed but i found that speed sucks sometimes,, it goes too fast and spins out/flips over alot. So i decided to make it more of a rally car instead. I took some small lego tires and ground down the inside so they would streach over the wheels.. Works great, it has tons of traction and can climb and even works on carpet(more grip and ground clearance) but i want more torque. Can i use the red motor with the blue gears for the best torque or is there a better combination???

Next question: do they make a subaru impreza or wrx that will fit the zip zap???

I thought about modding a zzmonster motor on the zzse for more torque but we will see how well the new gearing combinations work first. ive done it once with a clone and it worked awsome

Thanks

dang, no luck on that wrx,, i looked around an i cant find it online,, not even on ebay at the moment,, i guess ill just have to keep looking.

I kept the red motor and then put the blue gears and it does have more torque but the battery life isnt that great,, i maybe get a minute out of it when off roading. is there a good way to get longer battery life out of it? maybe add another cell some how?

Thanks

here is a shot of what i did to the zzse to make it need more torque(if anyone was wondering)

First i tried just the rear tires. I took two lego tires and grinded out the center of them quite a bit so that they would fit over the rear wheels,, then i had to grind down a bit of the motor pin (stuck out too far) and some of the plastic on the chassis to get them to spin correctly,,

I drove that around for a bit and it worked great after switching to the blue gears and red motor. but now the battery life sucks, i only get a minute or so of use and its not good enough.

Next i wanted the full look so i took two more lego tires and did the same to the front,, i also had to trim some of the chassis up front to get it to steer,, what do you think? I just set the body on there for now just for looks

That looks great! You should really try the dual motor. All you need is 2 motors, an extra heatsink, pliers, and a soldering iron. Do some searches. Or you could get fets and codesuede's DC mod.

A word of advice for these tires.. LEGO made these tires in two hardnesses.. I found this out the hard way, i had a softer sticky one on one side of the rear and a harder one on the other side and it was pulling one way.. Be sure to use the sticky/soft ones and they stick to everything, its great the traction they have,, even on hard floors,, just someting ive noticed

after switching with the blue gears and cleaning all the hair out of the motor it has lots of torque and can climb 45+ degree angles, its great
