I've hears so much crap about the max voltage on these cars. Truth is nobody knows until one gets toasted in a true test. Somebody said that it kicks off a protection circuit at 8.4V, which is completely FALSE because I am running 6 Rayovac IC3s each tested to the nearest hundreth volt at 1.45V each, which gives us a total of 8.7V and mine has not fried, tripped a breaker or done anything weird except that the heatsink gets pretty darned hot and the steering is twitchy for a second or two after the car is turned on. I wish people would quit posting false statements (are you happy BC?? LOL)!!

My experience with the 6 cell mod (using 6 RS rechargables)
I hooked up my 6 cell mod today...i used quick connects from RS with the male and female heads..i cut the cord in half, wired it in series..broke a few connections (stock ones connecting to batteries, no biggie, needed a stronger connection anyway) I put quick connects on all of the wires...i put a male on positive, female on negative on each set so I can hook up the wires together if i wanted to go back to four cell. I got it all wired together and I took her out for a test run (just the chasis, i hadn't yet been able to fit it on the body) and the range was ****ty...the servo would go crazy after i gave it a command...so I decided to ditch the 6 cells...I have a blue civic, i have seen this happen to other people..anybody have any ideas why? I know i wired everything right..i even did a test trial by twisting the wires together and it still made the servo go crazy after a command....Also I drilled a "speed hole" in the sunroof to hold the 2 cell pack...it wouldn't fit and once i test drove i quit

Hey, quick question for any electronically capable person to answer:

Would it be possible to modify BC's original diagram so that instead of cutting and splicing the old black connecting wire, you completely remove that one, and have the two wires coming from the added batteries directly connected to the battery cases? In case you don't understand what I'm saying, since it's kind of hard to explain, below is a diagram of BC's original diagram, and below it, a diagram of my idea.

I reattached the additional 2 cells and I'm pretty sure i just fried something...smoke was coming out..that's never a good sign..car still works with 4 cells though..range is probably shot to hell now though.

damn little rocks. after id did this i tested it without the body and the thing freaking flies. but now the thing would kick up even more little rocks that short the PCB. well the grease i used to catch them came out and the PCB is now fried. and i now need 2 sets of electronics before my race on wed. is there anyway to overnight the parts?

wow!!!!!!!! bc i love you, the handling and speed is multiplied by so much. i did it half way between your first and second designs. I used the motor connectors from another car like your first one, but i mounted it on with velcro and an xmods AAA case like the second. pictures if anyone wants.

i directly soldered the XMODS battery case directly BTW the 2 holders. i just mounted it on the chassis.

hey yo, i did the 6 cell thing, but i didnt attatch it to the body, i attatched it directly to the chassie of the car. i didnt use a battery holder either, i just kinda stuck it in. it looks bone stock, but all i got is the motor upgrade. but over stock. .. as Mazda says. .. ZOOM ZOOM.
