Also, the bodies are listed at $10.95, but they are diecast.

Still, my preference is to get a cheap bit and mod the crap out of it. After all, modding is half the fun.
Actually, that is a pretty bad point considering these are a not epochs and they are a completely different scale. As far as a being a micro enthusiast's wet dream....that remains to be seen. BTman makes a good point about buying new 1:64 scale cars and being dissapointed. That disappointment is much easier to swallow when you have only paid $5 - $25. Even if these things are they best thing to come out in 1:64 scale, they still are not worth $80....they are 1:64 scale. $10 for a diecast body? Give me a Johnny Lightning diecast for $1.70 at KB.

Just received a replacement controller (the origonal had some dodgey wiring), so I should be able to get some vids done now (XMas and kids allowing).

Also got a couple of new BMW shells (the first one in the pictures was pre production - the new ones have even better detail - but I will need to use super zoom to show the detail). I also got an unpainted 1st shoot sample of the new chevy monte-carlo - awesome.

I will get pics and video as soon as time allows.

Cheers

Did you read the last sentence in my post? I prefer the $5 bits (ebay), but you can't deny that most have spent enough to buy a Metl Tech. I would never buy an $80 toy because it shouldn't have to be modded. And that disappointment of buying crappy bits could have been avoided if you did some research. Do some more research on Metl tech racers before you base it on the price tag. How can you compare these to the current bits available today? Been eating retard sandwiches again?

Also, after watching several video's of the Metl Tech's, it doesn't take a genius to figure out if they are quality or not.

Very nice! Designing the antenna to be located under the chassis will make a lot of people on this forum very happy. And the fact that the Metl Tech's will fit certain 1/64 diecast cars doesn't hurt. I still can't believe that this bit is reported to have 21 steps each way for the proportional steering. I'm sure one of my friends will buy one to race against my dual cell bit. It'll just give me an excuse to redesign it again.

I'm still curious about that funky controller. Is it designed to be used in one hand?

I read your last post....why are you getting so defensive?

Thanks for proving my point.

I never said I was dissapointed by my bits. I was quoting someone else. I know plenty about 1:64 scale cars....don't lecture me about doing my research. I research the hell out of everything, which is why I am not so quick to buy in to a new product and hype....unlike some others. That last sentence makes no sense....base what on the price tag?

I've seen the video...so what? They don't prove much of anything. I haven't compared the quality of Metl Tech cars to other bits. In fact, I haven't stated whether these Metl Tech cars are high quality or not. Why? Because there is no way I can know what the quality is at this point. Neither can you. So genius....instead of blindly following the opinion of people who may have a financial gain in the sale of these new Metl Tech cars, try thinking for yourself. Actually I'll tell you what, after you drop your $80 bucks on a 1:64 scale car and run it for a while, let me know whether or not it is worth it.

Again, my point and my opinion is that no 1:64 scale car is worth $80, no matter what the quality....you obviously agreed with me by saying you would never buy an $80 toy. I'm looking forward to some real reviews of these things when a few people start picking them up.

Blindly following the opinion of other people? Do you think I could make an assessment of the Metl Tech's performance just by a video of the steering? Again, do some more research, bonzer isn't the only one with videos of these bits.

Yes, I was agreeing with you. My $5 single speed bit that I've modded is better than the expensive bits that my coworkers own. As I stated, that is why I would never buy the best.

I mentioned "disappointment of buying crappy bits" because I just can't see how the Metl Tech racers would be more of a "hit or miss" than the $5-$25 bits. I made my assessment on the manufacturer specs, owner reviews and video's which show it's performance (top speed, acceleration and handling).

As far as quality, look at the open pic of the chassis. It's my opinion that this is very well designed. I am a mechanical engineer, so I trust what I have learned in the past. I went to grad school! Research was all I did for 2.5 years! Take my opinion for what it's worth. Everyone is free to express their views in this forum. Now if you will excuse me, I WILL take a "Bourbon time out."
