now i'm not positive on this but i figured i'd try and help you b/c noone else has.

mah is a measure of how much current (amps) can be drawn through or from the device. so i'm thinking that the charger would only draw as many mA as it needs as long as the voltage is correct.

Now if it changes the mAh out put of the charger that could be bad. That out put determines how long the bats are going to have to charge. There is a ratio of the mAh rating on the bats to the charging amperage but I can't remember want it is. I hope this helps and that i'm correct.

Oyh, here we go again...

mAh is short for Milliamp Hours, which is a way of measuring a battery's capacity. Basically, a 750mAh battery would drain completely in one hour with a 750mA (milliamp) load. If you go over 750mA, it will discharge faster.

Now, you don't have a 12v 1000mAh adapter. Most likely you have a 12v 1000mA adapter. This means that the adapter is capable of sustaining a 1000mA load without burning out. Since the charger only requires 800mA, it will be fine.

Now chooch, I know you need information, but you don't have to make a new thread every time you ask a new question. This question could have easily gone in your other thread about lithium kits, since they had already started talking about chargers. Please, next time, read the threads you have already started and ask your questions there, if appropriate.

well i was close in the first paragraph, i just got mA/mAH confused esp after he said that his adapter had an out put in mAH.

As far as the second paragraph, i was wrong that the power supply could change the out put of the charger but thats why i said IF.

Thanx for clearing that up, but know i have a Q -

Chagers also put out a certian nuber of mA right? B/c i doubt that a battery can draw in current. Maybe i just don't understand the basics of a charger But i know that rating in mA on the charger determines how long its going to take to charge, and i think there is a limit on how fast (how much current) you should charge batteries that uses the mAH rating of the bat as a determining factor - right?

Thank you or disproving or approving my thoughts - its been a while since i have done any charging, i used to be into zipzaps.

Of course they do, Amps, or Milliamps is a rating of current. There is no equation that I am aware of that says what battery can take what current. Basically, you can charge it with as much current as you want, as long as it doesn't damage the battery. The little equation I put up before also works for charging. If you were to charge a 750mAh battery at 750mA, it would take one hour to charge it to peak, if it were completely drained. This is not to say that 750mA is the most current you can use to charge it. The battery *may* be able to be charged using a higher current, thus shortening recharge times. You should be careful that you don't use too much current to charge it, because you can damage the battery, or even cause a fire. The most I would use to recharge a AAA battery is 1A.

You're welcome. Anyone can email me or send me an IM and I'll answer any questions you might have.
