found more clones!

found these at the mall - one of those kiosks stores. What was nice is they had 4 frequencies.

Car and setup are more like the Bits.

27 49 35 45

Even between these 2 they are not the same. One will interchange gears with the zip the other won't. They both can use the Zip axles.

The motors on these are more powerful (maybe more torque) than the Zips. I put a zip motor in one of them and it has a hard time moving.

Price was more than a Zip.

Our local hobby store carries two different models that use the same clear dome packaging. One of them is a Chinese model (no English text and none of those pesky FCC regulations to limit the frequencies) and those little buggers are FAST! Obviously they are smaller than the ZZ's and they turn on a dime. Fortunately, I can still outmanuever them.

Well, it's not the batteries. I put a 3.6v. lithium "AA" and jumped it across the other side. So I only needed one battery. But it still did no good. I found all the packaging, so back to the store it goes.

I found out the names of the clones that our hobby store carries: MicroMites and Shen Qi Wei. Although the packaging, vehicles, etc. look the same, the Shen cars are MUCH better.

Question

I returned my bad dome clone today. The new one is great. It's a lot faster than my ZZs. It had an oversteer problem, I fixed it by putting the ZZ all-weather tires on the back.

The question at hand. If I push any button on the controller (when in range) it sends a tone through the speakers on my computer.
Is this because it's on the 35MHz band??

Hey cool, you must be in MN then. Nice to see someone from here on the boards! I've seen those at Ridgedale mall too (which is closer to me) The little kiosk shop had those 2, and 2 others I think. I looked all over the packaging on them for any motor or battery specs, but absolutely no tech. info is on the packaging.

Yup...

Minnesota here!

didn't really see anything either even inside or the manual. It does seem to run it faster than the zips' turbo though.

must agree w/ rodzilla. best knockoff!!!!

I got a couple of the knock offs too, didnt even know til i got them home they were different brands. the packaging looked the same, anyway one was the shen que wei, the other was tiger racng, the shen ran like me microsizer, actuallty faster, the other was a piece of you know what. so i took it back and exchanged it for another shen, and told all my friends that are buying them to get the shens only. so much better...
