Nevertheless...if you want a high quality shaft for you xmod.....$10.00 shipped. If you get it somewhere cheaper, and you can trust the person....more power to you.
its simple math. there are 3 shafts, divide the price by the number of units (shafts) you then have $3.99, round up to $4.00.

hmmm 51 for $1 each, do i get a discount if i buy in bulk?

Oh, quit your bickering or you'll all go to bed with no dessert!

Anyways, now that we know that they cost from $1 to $17.99 each, does anyone think they are worth getting?

Do they actually improve performance? and if so, in what way?

Yes. They are lighter than the metal shaft that comes with the cars. Less weight means it takes less power to start the shaft spinning. Better acceleration, and responsiveness. Good Value.

There is a downside though, (it may have been brought up before, but for the sake of answering the question it bears repeating) you need to use metal bearings with carbon fiber shafts. The carbon fiber is quite abrasive and will tear up the nylon bushings that come with the car originally or can even bind up on them.

So do you think its a good idea to check, and possibly replace
the main drive bearing on a regular basis?

I recently installed the CF shaft and have noticed a little more acceleration like you said, but I dont want to spin a bearing.

If you have the Radio Shack bearings, then yes, you should replace them right away. The RS bearings are JUNK. Some of mine seized up with less than an hour of playtime. The bearings they sell in the shop here are a good alternative to the RS ones.

While the RS bearings are of pretty poor quality you shouldn't have many problems with a CF shaft that you wouldn't have with a metal shaft. The yellow nylon bushings are what wear down very quickly.

Yeah, the bearings seem to be holding out pretty good, but I have already snapped a half shaft (the short dog bone) I guess its time to get some aluminum cups. not too cheap though. That shaft really gives some good torque.

lol...that's one of the first things to break as you make the car faster. Aluminum cups are a great investment for anyone trying to make their ride reliable AND fast.
