SE and Past n' Present Bodies
Hey everyone I just wanted to ask a quick question about the compatibility of the SE models and the Past and Present body kits. The reason that I ask this is because I picked up the Camaro set, which is sweet by the way, but I am having issues. The front wheels are rubbing on both of the Camaros and this seriously screws up my steering, I don't want to mod a beautiful body like that. I thought that all the bodies were compatible except the convertibles. Pissed me off alot to see this. The Mustang body that came with the SE was lackluster at best.

That's odd, I didn't have any problems. In fact I went so far as to put fatty wheels on and lower the front end.
I do remember something about it pushing the body too far back. I just had to trim away a tad off the back to get the body to move forward.

I haven't had any problems at all fitting the Camaro SS body on an SE chasis. The sides are a bit tight, otherwise it fits fine. Here is a photo of it sitting on a stock SE chasis:
As you can see, it sits a mile high. Definitely needs tab lowering in the front like crazydave did. I think it would look fine to keep the back "jacked up" though.
BTW....nice ride CD.

well... i've checked how they sit 10 times at least, looks just like yours... I bet that I could lower mine as well easily but they have some rubbing when the wheels are turned in the extreme directions, only on the last step (number 7) ... does my Zip turn harder than yours?? Seems really odd... if I get 1-2 mm taken off the inside of the hubs then they would probably fit fine... I have no idea why mine would be having this problem

by the way crazydave, where did you get those rims? I got the rim and tire package and the only thing worth while in the thing (for me anyway) were the wide wheels... love the deep dish look of your wide rears.

Those are Scala43 alloys from Germany. I got them in a group buy last years.
That car's dead now. That body sits on top of an original ZZ with wheels like Sdog's. Looks just like that.

how did you get the center hub for the wheels to be different colors on the front and rear... gold in front, black in rear... was that a custom paint job or do you have a different rear axle?

The color is a little off in the photo. What looks like gold is actually silver. What looks like black, is actually an empty hole. I am using the RS Wide Tire Kit on the rear wheels. Although the wide tire kit is cool idea, RS dropped the ball by not filling in the hole in the center of the adapter that makes the wheels wider. The result is an empty space in the center of your wheels.

Yeah, and right when they finally got smart and started painting the center silver on the rear wheels. I'd been doing that since 10 minutes after I got my first Zip Zap.
...and that's my car BTW, I want it back.
Just kidding, I'll tell you what I did that really sets those wheels off. I took an Exacto blade to clean the chrome out of every one of those little holes. Really adds some realism...except for that big hole right in the middle of that back wheels.
