Broken Cups?

Is anyone with Li-Ion power knows the plactic Cup shafts in a stock Xmod are quite inadiquate. Lastnight after taking apart the right A-arms, to change out the cup joint again, I had a great idea to strengthen the cup joints.

I tightly wrapped the cup joint with dental floss then lightly covered it with super glue. After giving it about a half hour to set I gave the car a spin.

The car seemed to have more punch, and after hours of driving now the cup joint is still intact. Hope this helps as a cheap way to save cup joints.

Yea it seems that for every hour of drive time I had at least one of those cups broke. But since I did this mod both fromt and back cups have been holding up.

I haven't heard about the heat shrink but, it sounds reasonable... As for the Stage I(box stock as referred to in slot car racing) you shouldn't worry about the cups for many many many hours of driving time... Usually you burn the internal parts up on a box stock before they break... Well at least for me anyways....

Using Heatshrink

I have tried using heatshrink aroung the cups though for me it seemed to not work. My car runs for about 20-30 min on one charge using Li-Ions, after 2-3 discharges I would have to replace the heatshrink and after about 9-10 discharges I would have to replace the cups. So far I've discharged my car about 20 times, and the cups are still holding just fine.

So if you're going to use Li-ions you should just buy metal cups?

What else would you have to get in order to run li-ions safely?
(in terms of motors and electronics)

35+ mph probably if you have a good setup....its all in your setup, but to get your xmod to go that fast, you'd probably have to use at least 3 li-ions...maybe...dont quote me on that. but you deffinately would need to upgrade your fets
