Xmods vs Iwaver

Had a full length thread going when suddenly IE crashed

Anyways, I know the Iwaver does edge out the Xmod stock for stock. But what has me wondering about getting an Xmod are two things:

1) Parts availability. Radioshacks are everywhere, and they will have Xmods (or atleast will be in Canada soon). Iwaver? I'd be lucky to find even an aftermarket H-plate for any Mini Z.

2) Battery cost. Xmods --> 4 AAAs and a 9V. Iwaver --> 4AAAs and 8 AA's. The battery cost for the Xmods is a lot cheaper.

I normally wouldn't care about the battery cost, but I'm trying to get friends into RC. And buying a 250 CDN used TL01 RTR (that's the cheapest RC car I've been able to find... yup, that's used) is waaaay to high for most people except the most avid hobbyists (like myself).

Suggestions?

look on ebay i see ready to runs sale for on average about 70-75 and some really good deals too a fully decked RTR out tt-01 2 extra bodies 3 sets of rims and probably enough spare stock part to make a whole nother car (minus resiver and servo) and 2 aftermarket motors for get this... buy it now 90.00 with 15.00 shipping ,it was there about fifteen minutes i was pissed cause my dad wouldnt let me buy it (i would have resold the good one and put together my self a car from the spare parts and my frien who quet a bit of stuff from tt-01 and tl-01(i heard alot of part interchange) i could have made a load real quik and i never new someone who wouldnt like that but oh well as i like to say around here...when life gives you lemons squirt people in the eye with the juice and yell cause youre pissed and didnt get what you want
who like that one i made it up could ya tell

You can always go micro

Micro RS4(kit) - $99.99 USD + Electronics(ESC/Radio) ~ $69.99 =~$169USD
Micro RS4(RTR) - $189.99USD

They're ALOT higher quality than Xmods or Iwavers and are supposed to have handling like 1/10th cars.
I actually traded my Xmod for a used micro rs4 with a broken motor... the guy thought he couldnt fix it.

well... if you are trying to get people into the hobby then get an Iwaver and show them how great they are... but you're right about the availablility of the xmods being a good factor... that could win over your argument... it depends on how easily your friends are to buy from out of town I guess. I still think that you should go with the Iwaver. Unless you're racing outdoors then go with the Xmods

Let's keep this thread focused on Iwaver vs. Xmods. There is a trading forum on here for selling your stuff.
