a guide on how not to get ripped off...
so.. here is a few sites that have some big rip offs.. i mean like up to $200 over what they should be priced...and also some site where you can get it cheaper...
ok... the scams on xmodspeed.com... those "r-tune" and "s-tune" motors are huge rip-offs.. they most likely bought them from www.mini-zworkshop.com.. then the 5 and 6 cells...do i have to go on about them? you can get them where you bough your xmod at for like $2 or somthing...then the nitro-charger...wtf is that.. its most likely just some 4000uf cap but you can get a 1 fared cap from allelectronics for only about $3 i think.. then the hotwires... you can just go to any 1/10th or 1/18th electric r/c site that sells wires and get them for only about $1 a foot or so.. then the stage 1 turbo.. it only includes 2 fets ( i think) which are most likely irf or maybe even si4562dy's which you can get from newark.com for only about $2 a piece and gets lower the more you buy...then the sb motor... should i say more? tight turns.... may only cost like $1 and just search the forums...then the aluminium lugs... most likely the biggest rip of... you can get it for like0.10 from homedepot or maybe lowes..range repair kit..just search the forums.. $1 at most...tire tack is most likely just window cleaner..spin-ez might just be oil? then gear juice??? you would be better off selling the graphite from pencil shavings..oh and for the lion batteries...just search the forum and it will lead you to a place on how to make the charger and get the batteries from cheap...
next site.. xmods xtreme store... solder.. get that at any good 1/10th or 1/18th site that deals with electronics..$2 at least..speed checker...had a set at my hobby shop for only $13 a piece..5 cell mod... check up there... and get a real url instead of http://xtrememods.freewebsitehosting.com/Home.html ...
new site...xtreemers.homestead.com... why homestead.. anyways...with the parts... c/f drive shafts... one.. you can buy a foot of it for about $0.50... then the hollow about 0.75..ill post the link where when i find it again.. then fwd driveshaft? no...dont even try that...then the ultimate xmod bearings... 8.35 a piece!?!? wtf was the guy thinking when he wrote that.. if you bought even 1 of those you deserve to get a dummy smack...then the atomic mods lithium batts... again..just search and you will find the links to do this for under $20...
next site... mighty mods.com... mini-zworkshop and auldy cans and maybe even motors itself... bah... i wouldn't buy from them...
then comes atomicmods.com... woowoowoo... can you say rip off on the c/f shafts? then the bearings.. $2-3 each? bah...then the wires.. he/she only sells seperatly only to make it look like it cost less.. typical marketing stragety...then the electronics... every signel things there is a rip off.. a board only with upgraded wires is $75.. what is this person smoking!?? the fet upgrade $110 just for the board and it.. that mean $60 for the fet upgrade alone... you can just send it to mini-z tuners for a 2x2 fet job for only $45 shipped..i woudn't mind saving $15+, would you? then the "V1 Power Management Board" $50.00 for that ****..my ass... load of bull...then the replacement parts... $5 just for mirrors?!!? tsk..then $7 just for the body mounts... thats just outrageous..then $8 for a motor heat sink... wow... people these days...then did you see thier turrnkey cars... wtf? if you want to go fast buy a nitro or somthing with the amount of money of those... or at least a mini-z..
im hungry right now so ill stop.. but any other xmod site i see that has loads of rip off i will say somthing about them.. if you dont want any thing like this said about your site i suggest you lower your prices.. oh and in the near future, i will be making a list with the sites with the cheapest parts...

The problem with those is that shipping is so much more, and overcomes the price saved by buying them there. Go to http://www.slavin4u.com/lithium.html . If you do buy, put "viperdout" in the notes section in paypal. Shipping is under 3 bucks, and the cells are 7.95 apiece.

Agreed
I would have to agree...some of the prices are quite outrageous for what you get. AtomicMods may charge a bit more, but you'll get the items in about 2-3 days...XModSpeed is cheaper, but be prepared to wait about 3-4 weeks for your order.
I bought some Deans connectors for $1.40 (2 connects, heatshrink), and some 18 guage wire and made my own wiring harnesses. It was very easy and didn't cost $8.95!
But, basically, it is Economics - supply and demand. XMODS are hot right now, and everyone wants parts...people attempt to upgrade things themselves and end up frying their boards. Then you have to buy another board, right? Where do you get it? People will pay a lot for some things, just because they don't want to buy another car.
There are suckers out there; don't be one of them!

xmods are hot right now? i think that there are too many gullable adults who let their kids buy that crap. and since the morons dont want to learn how to solder and spend the money for the equipment the first time. people dont understand that by spending a lot of money now they can save twice as much with what they can do with what they spent their money on.

You can order it from RS...the part # is somewhere in here...it is called the PCB RECEIVER ASSY or something like that. It costs like $9.49, but supposedly is on 2-3 weeks back order from the shack.

WHOA... Do people actually buy new motors because the wires come undone?? Or they'd probably take it to da' shaq (cough* loser* cough*) and ask them to fix it - they'll say they can't but they CAN sell you the Stage 2 motor upgrade set and the body kit the car needs to run!!!!!!!! (<---------WTF is up with that)

Go to Cj's xmod FAQ in the xmods section, scroll to the bottom of the first post, click the link, and look for the pcb assembly. It doesn't matter, because if you call up the shack and tell them it's a pcb reciever assembly from an xmod, they'll send it to you.
