Along these lines, once my pro-mod setp gets here, I plan to eliminate the stock tie rod and use something more like the larger scale cars use. It will eliminate most, if not all of the steering slop.
I think both the ESC and receiver will be losing their cases for a bit of heat shrink tubing.
The SPY may get upgraded, too. 12A seems kind of weak to me...

Neurokinetik
Are you thinking of upgrading the spy’s FETs. If so on the circuit board or off?

Upgrading the FETs, yes. Not sure how it wil be done yet, though, as I'm still waiting not-so-patiently for my order to arrive. I'm thinking it may use something like my FET mod transistors already, but we'll see when I get it apart.

Well, got my stuff today, and here is the datasheet for the Fairchild FDS6690A FET that the Novak SPY uses:
http://www.fulcrum.ru/Read/CDROMs/FA...l/FDS6690A.pdf
It looks like the IRF7455 would be a nice replacement, handling 15A, and having an "on" resistance that is half of that of the Fairchild part. You would need four chips to do the job, at a cost of a little more than $6 and shipping.
BTW, nice of Novak to use those transparent cases. Saves me from having to disassemble the product to reverse-engineer it...

I changed my mind on this setup. I'm sending back all the electronics to Tower and selling off both my XMod Civic and the CF chassis upgrade. Auto-x season is now only 17 days from starting, and the money would be much better spent on my real car than on these things.
