can these duratrax 3x6 flanged bearings be used?

$22 or so for 8 which is cheaper than the $30 horizon is asking for the SP kit. Also says double shielded and teflon sealed, which I'm assuming means really high quality (tho I dunno what the abc sp bearings are). Also noticed that the thickness is 2.3mm instead of what I assume is the standard 2.5mm

I haven't been able to find the width of the bearing online. I'm pretty sure about the 3x6 flanged, but nobody gives the width. Doh!

I'd be interested in these and also 2 additional fets to fill my mini-x ESC if you can get those (30100's).

EDIT: just called boca bearing and he recommended the "ultrasealed" but was out of stock. He did have the ceramic ultrasealed, at a rack emptying price of $11 and change each. The metal shielded bearings would have run about $31 for 8 of the 3x6x2.5 flanged. So far the duratrax is the price to beat at $22 + s/h. They're teflon sealed, anyone know if thats good or bad?

Standard 3x6 flanged bearings will work fine -- including the duratrax, which I've used. Width on a flanged bearing is actually not that critical -- the bearings are held in place by the flange. In this case, they're the width you want/spec'd by abc.

Buy them here from Tinyrc -- I'm sure he'll give you a competitive price.

cdog4w, how many 3x6 flanged do you need total? FYI we can get any bearing the Boca has (they don't make their bearings, they order them factory direct just like we do), and ours are lower cost and higher quality (e.g. our Dry Racing Mini-Z bearings cost less than Duratrax's crappy, incorrectly sized Z bearings, and are much, much, much, much better quality!). Thanks!

Just noticed that Dynamite makes a set of 3x6FL bearings and horizon has marked them as being for the DTM SP.

They all seem to be teflon sealed. Since the dynamite seems to be the cheapest. Why not go for them?

I ended up getting the duratrax (sorry tiny, I just wanted to get up and running). They work fine in back, but up front the screw won't tighten the wheel to the shaft all the way. I don't think thats a bearing problem since the flanges are what position them, but has anyone else had this problem with slack in the front? I've got some 2mm washer's I can throw in to space it, but in the meantime I tossed on some DRR alum rims (w/ the dynamite bearings) that I got in an ebay auction. I picked it up for the novak spy it came with and got the DRR stuff as an additional bonus (everything but Rx). Rolls ridiculously smooth. Next up is fitting electronics and ditching the battery box if I can.

The problem with using just any old 2mm (shouldn't that be 3mm?) washer is, you want the washer to only contact the inner race of the bearing. Otherwise, it will cause drag.

If you can find a washer the size of the non-flanged outer portion of the bearing, you can slighty increase the width between bearings, taking up the space. Basically, you'd want a washer that would only contact the outer race, and not touch the axle.

The other option would be to look at armature shims -- if you can find them in the right size, and they're small enough not to contact anything but the inner race, you're in business.

Its not an uncommon problem. The flipside, where the width is too wide, and the screw binds the bearings, also happens.

So theres some serious difference in the sp's front wheel mounts from kit to kit? After hearing so much about the quality of the SP that suprises me.

Its more an issue with the injection molded rims. There's also some variances between 3x6f bearings. The gap is probably miniscule -- easily attributable to the seating of the bearings.
