Does anyone know how to FET mod their own car???

i just wanted to know if anyone found out how to FET mod their own car?
i really dont want to spen the money!!!

i do but, i couldn't explain it to you. you need pics and diagrams which i don't have anymore. my folder got deleted. besides, you can't just go out and by fets like batteries. there's a reason microamps charges $20. he's not getting rich off it, and it's very tedious work. getting the fets is the hard part for me. if i was you, i would pay the money.

I'll give you the executive overview of the process. I'd link you to blue forum that has a thread entitled 'mk1 mosfet mod for the zzse' that has details, but I have heard that naming that forum is not allowed.

You can use the IRLML6401 and IRLML2502 MOSFETs. These are available for US$0.66 each from Digikey plus US$5 shipping for orders under about US$25.

Refer to my diagrams below for part names and locations. On the ZZSE PCB, replace the parts labeled QD3 and QD4 with the IRML2502 (N-channel) MOSFETs, replace QD1 and QD2 with IRML6401 (P-channel) MOSFETS.

Optional steps:
-Jumper RDB1, RDB2, RDB3 and RDB4.

-Leave RDB1 unjumpered and connect the gate of QD1 to the gate of QD3.

-Leave RDB2 unjumpered and connect the gate of QD2 to the gate of QD4.

Yup, I had forgotten that step, thanks.

Cyborgzeros jumper connects QD1 gate to QD3 gate, and is probably a better design than the original PCB.

I'll test the motor speed both ways and report the results.

I've updated my post above to include the change, and the same mod for the reverse gear.

I also have a duty cycle mod using surface mount parts that raises the 30% duty cycle. It pretty much kills any proportional control, but it does increase top speed by about 50%.
