Is a MR-01 worth it?
well is it? I need to now. Would it still be better than an Xmod?

it is so much better than a x mod you won't believe it
it's not that a mini z is so much faster than a xmod
it's all about the handling and response.
drive a z and you'll know what I mean.....
now if you have the option go for the mr02
it is one sweet ride, and you won't be dissapointed
w/ either 01/02
In fact I haven't raced my xmods sense I scored
my mini z

I dont know about the mr-01 (dont own one and haven't drove one) but my mr-02 is like 100,000,000 times better than any xmod I've seen.. So crisp, smooth, and responsive.. not to mention faster and quieter than an xmod also. I love it!

Pros and Cons of 01's vs. 02's.
The 01's some like cause there easier to do fet upgrades on, more room in the PCB area. They are the older type with a higher CG due to the battery location, and they are the only ones without a servo saver. One other thing the 01's do not have is brakes, they go right into reverse.
The 02's lower batteries and have a servo saver. The only real downside I can think of is the PCB area is tight so you are limited on how many fets you can use before you need to cut alot away. These are the newer type. They also have brakes like most Mini-Z's (Overlands,F1s,).
Hope this helps.

Yes all Mini-Z's exept the MR01's have a servo saver of some kind on them. The MR01 as the first mini-z to come out is the only one that I know that doesn't have the servo saver.
Brakes are on most mini-z's but the 01's, Although the new MR01 the MR01-F as it's called I heard something about it may have brakes. At this point the big K is still tight lipped about it. It's suppose to have a new rear pod, but some other things look like they been reworked too.

The MR02 is definitely a superior chassis, but another good thing about MR01s is you can pick up a decently upgraded MR01 on eBay for less than $100, and you can get a slightly used readyset for around $60.

Is a miniz worth it,is it better than xmod? Well that all depends on how you look at it. If you just want to have a good rc out the box with good speed and good handling and dont mind paying the extra money for that then yes.
On the other hand if you dont mind paying less for something that dosn't perform as well out the box but can be modded to do a whole lot go with xmod. I have an xmod and I love it. The car and the modds that I have done to it probably are no more than the cost of stock miniz. My handling is good now and I would love to see stock miniz hang with my 170motor xmod

I don't think you can buy a servo saver for the MR01. It isn't designed to take one. I have seen rubberized steering bars to somewhat work as a saver, but never used them.
Closest thing to a servo saver on an MR01.
The MR015 that Kyosho is comming out with is like the MR02 chassis with the same servo saver and the battery holders are like the MR01 up/down layout. There are threads on that over on MZR .
