Question Problems making 6-cell fit in Supra

I can't get the 6-cell conversion to fit in my Supra. Its pressing down on my motor and locking it up. I've already took out the command logic light board posts and one side of the mounting clip towards the back of the car. Does anyone have any suggestion to make it fit or will it?

People say it will fit (I've only tried to fit a 5th cell). There are things you can do to make it fit;

-Dremel off the CLLK posts.
-Sand down the 6th cell holder on all the corners and anywhere that you think will help.
-Get smaller connectors (what are you using?)
-Move where the connectors are (thats the big one, make sure you know where the connectors are going. Are they pressing against the pinion?)

one more thing

You need to get a screw and nut set from RS and take off the rear body clip, then get a longer screw and use a nut as a spacer between the body clip and the hole where it screws into the body. It'll lift the rear end up a bit, but doesn't look that bad.

another suggestion

hollow out the rear end by the bumper and then glue the bumper on real good and stuff the 2-cells back there with some superglue or velcro. It really doesn't look bad in the roof, with the rear raised a bit. You can find a pic of mine by looking for the threaded titled "chrome" using the search.

Try sanding down the underside of the roof in the body. Don't sand too much to the point where you start to open a hole though I haven't tried sanding mine though, as I only did a 5th cell which fit pretty easily.

That would give you about 1/64" more room.

Well at least it's more room than before you did it
Also, another idea I had earlier was that maybe you could cut a little of the rear mount that holds the "clip".

Okay, well here's the pic of my 5th cell. You see the part that's covered in a "red highlight"? Well maybe you could cut a little out of that part so you have just enough space to fit the double AAA holder.

Here's a rough drawing from looking at the side...

The black thing at the top is the rear clip that you clip to the chassis. The white(My supra is white, so if you have red, yours is red) "slope" that comes down from it is the mount that's part of the body. Where the red rectangle overlaps the the slope, that's basically where you would cut. Measure how tall your battery holder is first, then mark the height on the slope and cut away.

I don't think that method has been done before so do it if you want

Has been done because that is what I did. Still didn't fit. Gonna try the spacer between the clip. That's really the only other option I have.

Mr. BigShots' got it, it's tough though. The problem is that the car's handling is gonna go to hell though.

Yea, i could do that but i would have to remove my neon kit and my exhaust tip. I'm just going ahead w/ the spacer under the body clip, but i really appreciate all the advice and if i have anymore questions, i'll look you guys up. Thanks.

Not as bad as putting a big heavy weight on an already top-heavy car. My Civic actually handles far better than I expected with the batteries in the rear bumper. I move the other four cells to the forwardmost position on the chassis to balance it out a bit, and it doesn't understeer like you would think it would. It also seems less prone to rollover, maybe even better than stock.

As for the neon kit and exhaust tip, well, we all have our own priorities...

Won't fit huh? I used the same method I posted above, all I did was remove the little slope from the rear mount with wire strippers

And I can still switch to 5 cells...

And it still looks stock, it's just beat up on the outside

Right now I only use electrical tape to tape it to the body. I need to find velcro that's a bit "thinner" than the average one and is stronger too.
