Two AAA's are overkill if your only going to use them for the LED's (you could make a 6th cell), a couple 1.5V button cells have enough mAh to run the LED's for a while.
The problem with LED's is they give off a sharp light, so you need a way to diffuse the light to give it a realistic look.
A small switch would be a nice option, so you don't have to disconnect the battery everytime you want to turn it off.

i forgot i did buy a small switch thats one of my main problems i suck at wiring.really....... that dude at R.S. said it would work fine...... i didnt know that it was overkill what obout one AAA would that still be to much to run 4 big ones (not the HUGE ones the biggest ones in the assorted pack 5mm. i think) i think instead of a switch im gonna use snap connestors could you post/send/make a wiring diagram for me like i said earlier i suck at wiring!LOL

Well, I've never attemped anything like that, but I can't imagine that it would be difficult at all.
First, a couple button cells would be the best, you can get them at RS. And I'd think you want to run 6-8 3mm LED's, the 5mm are too bright. And you still need a way to disperse the light, possibly some LED condoms if you can find them...or a few layers of Saran wrap if you have to.
I'll post a diagram later.

No, sorry, you need two buton cells run in series, that'll give you 3V. Though that may depend on the LED's you have (check the package).
You probably have to solder the wires to the switch. Not really any other options.

firs thing i need to know how many leds you wanna power it would be easier to wire all of them in series instead of parallel like you have there the brightness will remain the same.
In series voltage adds and current stays the same.
In parallel voltage remains the same and current adds.
Different color leds require different voltages so it would be best to stick with one color. but let me know how many and what color leds your gonna use and i will help ya

if i remember correctly the green ones take 1.3 volts for full brightness so 4 times 1.3 = 5.3 volts in series now if you wanted you vcould put them in parallel and it would only take 1.3-1.4 volts to run all 4 but the current is gonna be x4 i think that is the right voltage for the green ones it has been a while since i have messed with the green ones but the voltage and the current draw should be on the package just look around on it and see if you see any thing glad to help with any thing gotta run
