Oohh a Soarer with a Supra TT's engine would be veery nice. Quite the sleeper neh?
But the Cayenne lapping the Skyline must have been an accident. Or maybe it happened cause any idiot who thinks himself a nice driver thinks he can race just because he's driving a super car. Give him an F-1 and he won't beat a VW Beetle I really doubt that with equally skilled drivers a Cayenne (or any SUV for that matter) would have advantage against a GTR...

oh ya thats right, and then they had a 2jz 3.0 liter n/a soarar. For some reason I thought it was the Soarar that had the 2jz-gte. There was also a 4.0 liter v-8 soarar.

Umm...they were both driven by professionials on a closed race course. This shouldn't be a surprise because of the Cayenne TT's 450 hp, but because of the overratedness (is that a word) of the Skyline and the usual underrating of tucks/suv's this is hard for most people to believe.

Whoa 450 hp? I had no idea it was so much OK, it can beat a Skyline But how much does it weight? And is it 4WD?

yeah the 450 HP on the cyane is nice...but beating a skyline? i highly doubt...the Newest M3 gets distroyed on a track against a skyline...i have video of that....for the first 3 laps the skyline was following one of the cars to video tape the car...on the last lap it gave those other cars a huge lead
cars include...M3, 350ZX, porsche boxter, honda S2000

Yeah, I'd still choose a Skyline over ANY car. Except maybe a Bugatti Veyron, or some $500 K luxury car which I'd sell and buy one of each Skyline since the R32 (and the KPGC10 too - classics are always cool )

I only read the first page, so if I'm making a totally random comment, or something that has been said before, sorry for wasting your time. Here's what I have to say:
Street racing is the dumbest thing you can do. If you wanna race, go to a track.

C'mon, it's funny as anything when they wreck (as long as they don't hurt anybody other than themselves) or they roll over a pothole or bump at 90+ and all kinds of expensive pieces of metal come flying out from under their cars.
On a serious note, some auto clubs do rent the larger speedways out, however I think they have pretty strict rules on what can and can't be done. Your typical street racer can't handle the stress/conditions that your hand-built NASCAR "stock car" (stock car my butt), or Formula I or IRC cars handle, and you losing control of your car and tearing up some part of the infrastructure is not something they want to deal with. They are responsible for it while they are renting.
I've got a friend who has a Viper, and has driven
at Texas Motor Speedway. Somebody there gave them a very blunt speech along the lines of "we don't care if you roll your car, whatever, just don't hit the walls or tear up anything else - we are financially responsible for damage to the speedway and you screw around and it's the last time you drive here".
I wonder though, why there isn't a larger "street racer" presence in auto racing in the US. I think rally/WRC is the biggest presence you see among the street models (I don't consider NASCAR to be using street models), and even then it's relatively unknown in the US. Granted, those WRC cars are nothing like what you or I could drive off the showroom floor (unless our last name happened to be "Gates"), but still..probably because NASCAR, F1, and IRC would pretty much crowd out anything like that.

At our local burger joint street races are organized every other weekend. most poeple travel fromt he burger place to a location be suited for one on one racing. I tell you there is some heavy cash switching hands at these things. Most of the time is spent checking each others car for hidden nitros one pass bottles and nitros injection points. these guys are getting crazy trying to hide this small extra horsepower. I found one guy who had a one pass bottle stored under his dashboard. he had dummy nitro injection points that he disconnected in front of me before the race but later I found out that he had another set attached where I couldnt see them. I have been to some races where the entire street was blocked off from traffic just so a few races could be run. I never crashed thank God and try to race with a clear mind.

Still makes me wonder why there isn't a larger audience for sanctioned street race type events with professional drivers or rather why there aren't larger sanctioned events w/pro drivers. There's a lot of money being made off of movies and tie-ins, there's a lot of money being made from 3rd party upgrades/parts for the cars themselves, there's a lot of money changing hands at unofficial street races.
The interest is there for this kind of thing. Something between drag racing and the full-blown road or oval tracks.
The only time I've seen anything comparable in the US, you see these Dodge Neon races that are tagged onto the IRL, Champ Car/Cart/Toyota Mid-Atlantic races, etc.. There are sanctioned rally races, but they don't get much publicity, and it doesn't satisfy the street racing.
It'd be pretty cool to have big-time "street race" style events. I don't expect them to hit 200mph + like IRL or whatever CART is these days on the streets, and I don't expect to see 25+ of them in one race, but I think it'd still be pretty cool to see what kind of street racers could be made, with the kinds of resources that go into WRC, IRL, NASCAR, etc. race cars.
