Soak it in CLR. It works great to remove rust.

It can make a big difference in performance. I soak mine in Simple Green engine degreaser. (I actually put them in a bottle and swirl them around in it for a couple of minutes) Then I switch to water to get the Simple Green out of the bearings. Next I pour them all out onto a paper towel and blot them dry. Then I douse them in Slick 50 One Lube, dry off the excess, and install.
Doing this procedure with the bearings new out of the box makes them faster than stock.

Thanks for the feedback Neuro, and your right it does improve the spin seeing as when i did clean them out as you instructed ALOT of gunk came flying out. Now i see why people are looking foward to these sealed bearings.

neurokinetik, I don't have any Slick 50 lube. Do you think motor oil has the same consistency?
I have 10W-30 and 10W-40 motor oils. Or maybe white litium grease?

Ixnay on the grease. You want a lightweight oil that stays where you put it. You can get the Slick 50 at any hardware store for $1. Trust me, it's worth it.

What is Slick 50's actual purpose?
What about 5W-30 oil? (new Accord uses it)

Slick 50 One Lube is a synthetic penetrating oil that is light, extremely slippery, and tends to stick to metal. It is like a WD40, but much, much better in every aspect. Motor oil won't work nearly as well. Over the years, I've tried many different kinds of lubricants in my inline skate bearings, and nothing beats Slick 50. It lasts the longest, and performs the best. Everything else was worse in one or both aspects.

CLR
CLR is a cleaner that is used to remove rust, lime and calcium build-up in plumbing, but it has many other uses as well. You can pick up a bottle just about anywhere (Kroger, Wal-Mart, WalGreens etc..) for a few bucks. Really good if your shower-head is clogged up too, just soak it in some CLR!!

Hey Guys, I'm planning to purchase bearings soon (only a few RS here in NY are carrying these). For those who already purchase them, do they come with grease? I plan to degrease them if they do and use some dry lube. The stuff I'll be using is Finish Line Bicycle Lube with Teflon (I use this stuff all over my bicycle, even used it in my bro's PlayStation 1 motor (still works)). Well, any opinions on this?

i remember mine came with grease when i bought it very early on, dunno about now. they put a dab of grease on one side of the bearings and stuck them in teh package. grease kinda adhered itself to the package, was a pain to remove (just cut my nails at the time..... )
