Steering missing third wire
Hi all. Sorry I know that this issue is old but if someone could point out where a third wire would go, I'd like to try it and see if I can get my steering better. Thanks.
On the circuit board that is.

I just did the mod and I now have 7 steps in both directions. I have a white savanna with the three wires. On my board, the third wire (green) is soldered to a little chip marked "391" that doesn't exist on your board. The blue and yellow wires are also soldered to slightly different locations on the board. There are other differences as well. Hopefully someone can come up with a solution for your board too, or you can return it and try again.
I have a much higher resolution shot of this if you want (just email me).
EDIT: deleted old image (just a resized version of high res) and posted a cropped resized version (shows more detail for the same resolution).

Sorry for the double post. When I edited a second time to add the new image after I had deleted and saved, it wouldn't let me post with an image. So here it is, sorry for the trouble.

Thanks dog. I didn't think anyone was going to post a picture where the third wire went. I've had my car for about 3 months and I don't think the Shack would trade now. Who knows, someone might come up with something to help on the board I have. For now. I'm still having much fun with the ZZse and the Xmod.
Thanks again.

DuggieDug - Let us know if this helps out your steering becase I'm in the same boat as you. Funny thing is, I tried adding the green wire a few weeks ago off a pic someone else had sent me and the green wire was soldered to a contact right next to the yellow wire. When I put the wire on, it didn't help. I noticed that my friends green wire went to the same place cDog4w's goes but haven't had time to try it.
Just so people know, my 2-wire setup was in a yellow RX-7. I think that's the Enfini?!?

I just opened up my board and I don't have the joint in that location. I looked at the first pic posted by RCDuggieDug and it doesn't look like his board has it either.

OH super! Now RS is doing PCB board revisions. Can you all give dates when you bought yours so we can get an idea of which one is the newer revision.
Mine was a three wire and bought mid December.

Well after the frustration I just had trying to fix the steering that car is now a "parts" car. maybe not even that since I wanted to see how hard it would be to get the transistors off in place of FETs. Now its transistorless... I'm leaving that up to the experts from now on. Those soder joints are way to small for me.
I bought this car in mid-Dec also, but I don't know how long it was sitting on the shelf (like I stated earlier it is an Enfini). My stang I bought at the same time has the 3-wire with y & b on the middle connect of the pot.
Here's a pic of what someone else gave me when I first tried adding the third wire manually. Oh what a tangled web we weave...

Got mine around the last of October. Since the board is not the same as the three wire version, haven't tried anything myself yet.

I bought my InitialD Mazda Savanna FC3S RX7 on New Years Eve 2003 and it's a two wire pcb.
BTW, what's that tiny motor next to servo for and is there a good lubricant for the gearing by the servo?

That is the motor of the servo. You can lube the gears with some kind of r/c diff lube or other hobby lube. Though if you do, make sure the tiny crack in the wheel well that opens into the servo gears is taped off.

I'm gonna bump this one up, so...
Does anyone know which ones are most likely to be three-wire versions? I'd hate to get mine home and find it's only a two-wire setup.
