Great Drift Tires
well since my light splice didnt go as planned ( http://TINYRC.COM/forums/showthread....071#post157071) i decided to have some drifting fun, and realized that if you rap you tires in scotch tape (dosen't even have to be trimmed, just fold the excces tape onto the rim) it gives you great drift performance on hard wood floors (found in my house my house) i am able to do dohnuts tire spins and side skids, but am still able to drive the car normaly if i dont do any extreme stoping or throtle bashing. i know this isnt useful for much but its fun... i hope fo get a movie cam from my school and post a vid...

scotch tae doesn't work aswell as masking tape, so try some masking tape and you will see a big difference in handleing, and you can drift when you want and grip when you want, it's my method of choice, but i like putting it on the hard slicks so that i don't get any wheel play.

Ummm......Scotch tape....
On the non sticky side.....I hate to blast (or burst.....whatever)your bubble, but won't that cause a major loss in traction??!!!

why??
Why on Earth do you need tape to drift??? It's easy to do with the stage2, even easier with extra cells.

Can't you just use hard tires for a loss in traction?

stock
stock tires worked fine for me, even with 4-cells and stage-2 yellow motor I was able to slide her around the parking garage poles without any problems.

yeah this mod really works great. especially when ur batts are low. you can drift with stock tires but if you want that extra sliding power this is great and it doesnt cost anything. well except for buying the tape. sometimes my skyline understeers like a b#tch tho . works great with an lsd

some people don't understand the point of having the tape some do, so i will try and explain this more clear, ok.
see when you use the maskingtape, you just put it on so that it makes the wheels slide more, it's just like driving regular but you can smash the gas and have regular drifts, and yes you can just drift with a stage 2 and hard wheels it's very much like that but it's harder to control the car so you have to be able to apply drift techniques to your driving, and even with AWD you have to deal ith understeer. so that's why i use it, it simply has you react faster so that you can perfect your drift, and you don't have to do it if you don't want too, just remember that too.

just use some hard compond wheels out of a model kit. That is if any one of you can do the wheel mods yet. it really isn't that hard. after that just run them all on a fresh set of batteries on asphalt or generaly ruff surface and then they are broken in to have grip and traction that is determining what slick surface wood, tile, liniloum etc. you are drifting on. Also any good high torque motor works that spools up quicker that way you can push it through your drift sideways and keep a good drift line.
hint try dollartree personal fans or crest spinbrushes.

it isn't alot of trouble if your a knowlegable moder. Anyway all the reason of the point is to use hard compound tires and put alittle wear on then you could just get your hands on some hard compounds and put them on your stock xmod wheels. Plus I have extras like these around from model kits that I fit onto xmods.
look for the 1/28 1/25 model kits thread farther back.

o i know you idea is pretty cool, but for me i just put the scotch tape cause it was the first thing i could get my hands on, and any wayz i just want to drift occasionaly, and be totaly out of control lol, so for me the scotch was beter, but your mod seems to yeild beter reults for the more serious of drifters

hey xxxspeed thanks for the post you can make virtually any type of wheels if you have a hobby file set. I got mine at homedepot for like 15$. It works really good to. you get a round, flat, square, triangle, and two curved ones.
well good xmoding.
