Custom Graphics - success!
Hey gang.
I finally got a chance to experiment with some custom graphics methods and have found a way to create stickers pretty easily. I am using ChartPak clear sticker sheets designed for photocopy/laser printing, which result in a black on clear sticker. (No color, sorry.) The detail is really just limited to how small and detailed the logo is.
Since the sheets are 8.5 x 11, I can fit quite a bit onto each sheet, allowing me to create larger body sized decals as well as smaller logos and racing stripes, etc.
It's much cheaper to produce than vinyl (like on the hood of my car in my sig), and allows much more detail at smaller sizes. (If ou have you ever weeded a tiny detailed vinyl sticker you will know the torture of which I speak.)
My first run turned out very nicely and I hope to have some applied to my car this evening. I will, of course, take pictures and poast here once I am done.
If I can find a color laser printer, I am also going to try and make some in color.
I'll update you when I have more news.

I added logos to the sides, one on the rear and put some of the tread graphics on the rear wing.

Not sure how the color will work but should. Only problem would be the lack of white, since anything white would be clear.
I used Chartpak DAFC8 for copiers, matte finish drafting and design applique film. It's available at local art and drawing supply as well as some office supply places. It's a little pricey, but considering I can get tons of small stickers on 1 sheet it's not bad.
I printed the page of logos, then copied it onto the film with our copier.
What might also work, and would allow for inkjet and color is a clear inkjet decal sheet. It would be thinner but requires application as a decal, not a normal sticker.

Goodness! Can you take some really close-up shots? It looks totally seamless from that distance. If it's that good in person, I'm definitely getting some of that paper there.

They look pretty good up close. I found that the edges only show if you don't cut them cleanly. And if you trim the larger ones to follow the profile that would keep them clean.
These were all small enough to just cut out in blocks and put on.
I will try and get something closer to show how they look closeup.

yeah
Most Kinkos have laser color printers/copiers.
I have heard they do a good job too.
You really need a good color laser printer to make them look good.
I too have purchased these sheets and have yet to finish my decal images and logos, so I am lazy.
But when I am done I plan on going to Kinks and printing some up.

I looked at the decal sheets at the local hobby shop the other day and they might do a good job as well. WOuld be thinner anyhoo. Just pricey. And I had access to the Chartpak sheets for free, cant beat that.
