Gear ratios to motor performance

I just bought the ZipZap performance package for my SE.

Can anyone give some of their feedback on what gear ratios and such work best with the included motors? (Why the heck they included a slower green versus a Nitro motor.. oh wait I know, so you have to buy that stupid body kit.).

Older thread? Just point the way for the ignorant.

I got the same upgrade on Monday.

I was hoping the green motor would have more torque, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Ideally then it should give you longer run times, but I haven't done any testing yet to confirm that.

If you've got wide open spaces, the red gears should give you top speeds. My kitchen is barely big enough to get the car up to full speed.

The green gears are in between the blue and the red in terms of both speed and accelleration and work as a pretty good compromise.

I've noticed the the yellow motor and the blue gears have enough torque to handle short stretches of carpet (it comes in handy when I need to back up if I've driven too far).

I'd suggest using the NX motor with the blue/green gears. With the red, it'll barely budge. The red gears are O.K. for speed, but the car is so heavy, with that setup you'll have a big loss in torque. On the old ZipZap, the NX motor and red gears should kick ***.

Chuckster...

Doesnt come with the NX motor. You have to buy that IntialD car set.

I have found a good compromise with the yellow motor and green gears. Though really short runtimes.

The orange motor with red cant reach top speed (even if I let it go a distance). It does the best so far with the blue gears.

Oh yes, I also was hoping for more torque out of that green. It failed miserably to provide this, It does seem to give slightly more runtime, but the "need for speed" is so lacking in this.

Hmm before I jump on a expensive phast or a 4.2pro I think I will fet mine.

Notice that the yellow motor has so much more torque.
