goobers

Okay,
You goobers that always are ranting over Initial-D have got me curious enough to go rent the DVDs this weekend. I really could see no other reason to get so darned excited over an 80s model Toyota Carolla....FYI....if you don't have it, get Grand Turismo 2 and 3. It'll give ya a major woodie because the Trueno is cheap enough to use as a starter car (the first one you buy).

Initial D is an anime series (about 39 episodes, a movie, and a tv special) based on street racing on curvy mountains. Their are only 2 legal dvds out through tokyopop in the U.S. so far. You can get fansubs and other versions off of the net if you know where to look.

Its a great series and u will enjoy it if you are into cars.

Oh yeah, a bit of advice: If u do get the Tokyopop version make sure u watch it in the japanese dubs with english subtitles. The english dub is one of the worst I have ever heard.

If you're fans, you ought to get the Shigeno AE86 (GT3, FR Challenge prize car): 217hp @ 9500rpm, 180lb-ft. @ 7500rpm, worth Cr125,000 to sell. It's identical to the Toyota, but with a carbon fiber hood and black rims.

Those specs are only stock, too.

I wouldn't bother; keep the Trueno until you win the RX-7 from the Beginner FR Challenge, then race with that until you're financially well-secured. It's best not to drive cars of only romantic value at the beginning, it takes too long that way.
