Muzzle flash

In case anyone is interested.

I have a design for an LED muzzle flash circuit.

The circuit uses a cmos 555 timer, one capacitor, two resistors, one LED. Mounting is somewhat of a challenge.

If you are interested, the circuit will be posted.

Muzzle flash

It will take a while before I have time to make a diagram.
If you know something about electronics, you could look at a 555 data sheet.

Set up the 555 as a one-shot. Be sure to use a low power cmos part. The negative trigger pin is attached to the low side of the tank IR transmitter LED (the cannon).

+5V and ground are available at the IR receiver pins in the turret.

Quite simple if you have the technical knowledge. If not, then you shouldn't attempt it.

Will post the values for the cap and resistors later. Don't have the circuit in front of me right now.

Muzzle Flash

Someone talked of this last year...he drilled a hole down the barrel, then used a nylon guitar string pushed down the barrel to transfer light from led/whatever, mounted inside the tank to the end of the barrel..I had suggested fibre optic, but he reckoned guitar string worked better...you could probably use a couple of different colours to get a better effect...sound any good?
