How many batteries (or volts) were you using with the motor?
Sorry to hear the motor didn't work out. Well, maybe we can take it apart for parts. I really like the way it looks.

The Torque Motor was a little better then the stage 2 motors. Had more torque with about the same top speed. Ran this set-up with red or yellow gears on a awd.
The best motor I've found is a SpinBrush. The com was polished, advance time, oiled, adjusted brush tension, and a drop of com juice. It has so much torque down low that the soft treaded tires sill doesn’t hook up. Then after being run in it smokes the 30k x-mod motors.
I must state that this is all done on a 6-cell car.

But those are 180's I looked up Tower Hobbies and found some Mini-Z motors that might be fast. I'll get the link up later.

Actually, those motors look like their fast. . . but a 180 motor wouldn't fit in my RSX

Time for a body conversion and long wheelbase. Seriously. The difference is that big.
Anyway, I found out why the the Plasma Dash performed so much like my 25 turn motor... It's actually a 27 turn motor.
Armature itself is much different than what I have been seeing in all my other 130 motors though. Take a look (Tamiya motor is the top one):
Look familiar? It should. It looks almost identical to the armatures that I see in NML motors. Take not of the "fat boy" commutator, which is of a much better quality than any other motors I have disassembled so far. Time to get winding and see what I can come up with.

i am not sure what makes those fat coms better, but they work great compared to a regular motor. it is the same size com used in 180class motors

I can tell you that there are two things better about them...
1. They are more true than the other ones. Less brush wear and more consistent performance.
2. The gap between adjacent contacts is smaller, leading to less arcing and overall better performance.

I've heard all sorts of motors mentioned in this thread, but no mention of the mini-zracer.com motors designed for the mini-z. Has anyone tried those? (maybe in another car like the mini-z or mini-x if not the xmod) I know one of them (Z-130-S-BB) comes with a ball bearing can, but is a bit expensive. For those without motor knowledge, would this be a good way to get custom performance if you have the $$?

I'm using a PN Speedy and this things screams. Sucks out battery life though.

Ah cool. Takumi recommends that as well. And hes not just the hair club president, hes a member too. (unless his sig lies
I don't have enough space to run inside anyway, so might as well go for some nice speed when I take it outside.
Takumi, do you still have your PN-Speedy hookup with the bushings to keep 4WD or did you try out the heatshrink tubing joint? Also, when you did the xmod wheel mod, you drilled out the hole, did you have to slot a groove for the mini-x wheel pin and then screw it on with the normal mini-x lug nut? (I know you're using the xmod universal something or other now so you use their D system)
EDIT: Forgot to say thanks...
Thanks!
