Headlights

Looks cool. Has anyone made headlights for a ZZ? I'm wondering how well it would work to scrape off the paint covering the headlights and put some working lights inside?

LED mod switch - better?

- just did a red LED brake-light mod for my yellow Ford Cobra zz...

- however, instead of using a microswitch (as shown elsewhere), i desoldered a 2-pin mobo jumper off a junk ISA card, drilled two holes by the zz's gas cap, and mounted the jumper from the inside... to turn on the lights, a jumper is placed on the pins - when not in use, the jumper is placed on only one pin...

- this approach is cheaper, less obtrusive, and saves several grams of weight for the mod...

- i also used the smallest 3V Lithium cell i could find...

all in all, a very nice $3 mod for my zz...

- will do when i get some time...

- i thought about mounting the pins to come out of the license plate, but there's no room...

Dude, great idea with the jumper thing. I need to try that. All the switches I have are broke and are 2 damn big. Thanks for the tip.

mobo pins - LEDs off

here's the unit w/LEDs off (jumper sits on one pin)... btw, you could use this arrangement with a 3- or 4-pin mobo set to:

- have backlights on, headlights off
- have headlights on, backlights on
- have headlights on, backlights off

yer right... mind you, this was a first attempt... however, it is lighter, the pins could be trimmed, and the jumper really isn't that big (i can barely see the pins or get the jumper on, but then i'm a half-blind, overweight, ham-fisted 'ol phart with carpel tunnel)...

:-)

i'd prefer to have the jumper underneath or out the license plate area, and will try for better placement on another try...

Hmm...maybe there's a way to modify the spoiler to act as a jumper since those car bodies already have the two holes and the spoiler removes easily? Might be some tricky wiring involved.

Likely seen this...

But check out this link from QFM....I think QFM has a link to a guy that actually had working break lights and turn signals. I saw video of it and was in tears!!!
