Extended Range?
i think i may have found a way to increase the range without adding an antenna. if you look the where the antenna comes out of its PCB you'll see two green resistors. if you replace one of them with a bigger resistor it will extend your range. last night when one of them blew and the range went down to 3ft i was going to just jumper it with a wire but that made it even worse. so i took one out of an old radio and put it in and the range is at least back to what it was. i havent had anyplace big enough to drive it on yet cause its snowing.

you could take the entire electronic system from the skyline if you want. they're all the same except for the "new" & "old" versions. check the crystal plug and whichever one sits lower choose that one.

if you take it apart and look at the little PCB where you plug the crystal in there should be two small resistors right next to where the antenna plugs is soldered on, if one of them is green and the other is black you have to replace the black one. take the entire system to some electronics store that isnt RS and ask someone there if they can find it. if they cant find it or cant order it take it out of the Skyline and replace it. or you could put any resistor in and it should work.

what value of the resistor did you use? do you happen to know the resistance of the original one? (at work so i can't measure it myself)

i think it should be the same color code as regular non-surface mount resistors

im not really sure if it extends your range or not because i havent had anywhere to test the range except in my house from one end to the other. but thats through walls and ill have to take some pics when i get home

one quick question, it may be stupid but i doubt it.
when you guys are saying PCB are you guys referring to the cars PCB or are you calling the remotes circuit boards a PCB?
which device do i need to work on is what im asking here.
