My first painting attempt

Here is my first attempt at painting an XMOD. I know that BC is using the Tamiya rattle cans and doing a great job, but I didn't want to mess with the fumes and I was a little afraid of enamels, so I used Model Masters Acryl and it worked really well. No primer, no sanding... just a soap and water bath...then paint. It isn't finished yet,... I am working on some custom decals.

Nice job. Now all you need is the body kit

Thanks, I have held off on the body kit, because I plan on running the car outside. Here are a couple of better pics. Good lighting makes all the difference.

You brushed that on? It looks pretty smooth from the pictures, which is surprising. I like the color, too.

No. I used an airbrush with the Acryl paint. With a little luck the decals will be finished tonight. It is my first attempt that the decals too, so no promises. I will post pics tonight if they turn out.

Nice supra. Like XMODSaretheBEST said the body kit would make it complete. Looks good!

Yea, that looks nice. You said you didn't sand it or anything, you just gave it a "soap bath" How well did that work? I tried it and the paint kept sliding off. Nice lookin Supra, again, I think it looks great, even w/o the body kit.

Yep, just warm water and hand soap. I gave it several light coats of paint with the air brush, without any problems. Then I gave it 3 coats of Clear Gloss (again Acryl brand). I wasn't too pleased with the Clear Gloss...it just didn't have the shine I was hoping for. Then I took one of those "shoe shine sponges"....I think it is called a KIWI Express Shine, and rubbed it over the entrie car. It gave it a nice shine. The paint had already been on the car for a couple of days, so I know it was well cured.
