Offroad capabilities?

Do Xmods have any off road possibilities/capabilities? I need something that can handle grass of varied lengths... I was thinking of getting one of these are a real offroad R/C.

Any ideas or experiences?
thanks,
-Alex

Hmmm....you may get off road with the AWD kit and a stage 2 kits. I dont know if this is true though.

get some longer suspension, to raise the height, then get the AWD kit, then get/make some off road tires.

There you have yourself a rally car!

I don't think the electronics can handle a lot of dirt, so be careful with that.

hmm, i may just do that then. Could i modify the axles to provide for more wheel clearance? I am very interested in having one (they are sooo cheap) but i dont want to break them, and i like to mod stuff.

more input?
thanks,
-Alex

yah, i have been wondering if these could be modded for off road, big tires, a new body, maybe improved susp. bu of course it might not compare to the mini-z overland, or the new monster mini-z(which is what i am waiting for... the vid i saw it was in a skate park place.... it was awesome, and FAST!)

water + xmod equal 3 days no fun

if you go offroad use awd and the highest torque motor and a good suspension, and if you want to do offroad in the water make sure to water proof it, i had to wait three days for mine to dry after driving it full speed in rain after about 3 minutes its wouldnt take control inputs and just did donouts in the parking lot. but it was a lot of fun

It would take A LOT of modification to make it off roadable.

How do you water proof an XMOD. Why would you want to drive it in the rain?

It's prob in case he drives through puddles and such. What's the point in making a Baja Varient unless you're go'in to have fun like that?

Source for wheels

Check out the tamiya mini awd kits, like the wild willy Jr. It's got some pretty aggressive treads, and the wheel is a little over an inch tall. They also make monster trucks in that series.
That would give you more ground clearance, but no suspension help.

When you waterproof it (special drying jell on to pcb, non conductive gule...) the only exposed parts would be the motor, steering servo, and batteries. Those can be dried out if soaked and a little water wouldn't be that bad to them. In a worse-case scenerio you could replace 'em.

I'm waiting to get an XMOD until I can do a mod like this. I think it'd be cool!
