how did you hook it up...what connections did you make, and what problems can arise from adding this extra voltage?

from what i was told the motors can with stand the juice as long as your not driving it on carpet and overloading the motor or on any other rough surfaces.

That is correct. The slower motors turn, the more current they draw. More current makes more heat in the motor, batteries, and FETs.

I picked up one of those 2 "AAA" battery holders today and plan on trying this. I also noticed that had the "N" holders which were about half the size, so you could technically get more extra cells in there at the loss of capacity. The "N" cells were 1.2v also, but less mah. Can you run them with the regular "AAA" batteries?

yeah i saw those 2, i was thinking the same thing, im looking for some battery holders like the one that holds 2 aaa but i want 2 that hold 1 aaa and im gonna try and figure out a different way to mount them. ive discovered that with the pack were it is currentlty the car is really top heavy so if i make a really sharp turn it almost wants to roll. but i bought the supsension kit so this should help that.

Yeah, I went there looking for the single AAA holders too, but they didn't have them. I didn't see them on the site either.

you should never run batteries of different capacities together. don't mix rechargeables and dry cells, nicd and nimh, different capacities, and different sizes.
a tip that i kinda learned from 1/10 rc's, keep the same four batteries you use in a set. the battery kit gets you 8 nimh batteries. separate them into two sets and keep them separated. always charge and use them together at the same time so they're a matched set. this gets you best performance and you won't have one cell depleting before the others

Yeah, I have 4 sets of batteries, and each set has it's own corrisponding marks (1-4) so I keep them together.
I figured it wouldn't be good to mix capacities, so I didn't buy the "N" holder or batteries.
