I haven't had any problems at all and I'm on DSL (constantly connected). My advice is to get the free version of Zone Alarm. That's what I use and it keeps all my ports closed. Occasionally I open up one (I'm not saying which) to interact with Yahoo Mail, but I close it immediatly after.
Last week I upgrade to ZA Pro. Not because of MS Bl, but for the built in Pop Up Blocker.
Right now I'd be more worried about "SoBig", don't open any attactments that you're not expecting!

Actually neither do most of the computer viruses that get major media hype. But of course the media likes to over hype a lot of things...just look at the west nile virus. (not computer...the real virus)
edit: And yes I know that they are two separate things but I was just making a point...the media likes to hype. And I just used the west nile as a "case in point."

In light of the past few weeks, and of this thread, I would like to post a few links with info and removal information for the W32.Blaster.Worm and the W32.Sobig.f virus.
Stay informed and play it smart!
