Ever try a 3:1? It runs kinda like that. You're going to have to use some serious torque to get that gear moving fast.

Yeah, high gear ratios like that are waaayyyy to sluggish for me, I usually use a 12:1 cause I like my cars to snap off the line.

Actually many people who tried the laymans dual/tri cell mod have complained that it made their car seem weak, and it only makes sense, switch to a battery with a lower mah rating, and the juice just aint there to begin with.

Mosfets definately add quite a bit of punch, has my stock single cell cars pulling wheelies off the line, but 2:1 is a drastic jump from 9.86:1, and I still say it would make it sluggish to the point of only being practical for running on the Bonneville salt flats.

Well, it has almost NO torque! And it will take 10 seconds to reach top speed!!! However, once it does, VROOM VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!! And the Layman's may not have torque, but the speed it pumps out from the beginning is unusual, wouldn't you say so???

Yeah, but a dual cell with stock nicads will blow it out of the water. I have the laymans and I'm not all that impressed.

Although I gotta give the founder of that mod some props. It definately makes it easier to increase speed if you can't use a dremel or soldering iron. Alot of people don't get into the electronics or even care enough to do some of the high speed stuff.

The 3:1 gear ratio comes in kit racers, witch have no pcb because they don't need control. They just zip around a ready made track. This also means that the full current and voltage are going to the motor because there's nothing to limit it. So, in other words, the 3:1 was made for higher current at least. The laymans just don't have that kind of current.

I'll take three sprinkles please. How much? I only have a little sense.

OK, I'm actually curious to the 2:1 gear ratio. As we continue to make the cars faster, better gear ratios are needed. Are there any performance videos of a 2:1?

Oooo! How much? I'm interested...
PS: How fast is Mach 3? Does it work on tile? (95% of my driving is on tile and marble tiles)

Yeah, I'm a bit of a Newbie...
Sorry.
If you were to drive it off a table, would it bottom out?
But any news about this?
I want some!

It wouldn't bottom out as long as you hit the thrusters at the right moment.

I know because I'm currently using this mod to run recon operations in 3rd world countries with my BCG. Combined with my satalite uplink mod and video camera mod, I can run it from my computer at home, while doing the ops in another country. Unfortunately, I still run into problems with the battery charge. It still runs out of power after 4~5 minutes, but my well paid agents in the field will recharge the car for me.
