Motor Questions
I bought a LXX type R, the black 40mhz one. It came with a 3.0 motor installed. Unboosted it crawled but boosted was quick. Then I installed the 3.5 that Toyeast included with it. Unboosted it is very quick. Boosted it hauls. Then I tried the 4.2 pro and the 4.2. Again it crawled unboosted, but boosted it is very quick. I put the 4.2 pro in my Microsizer 49mhz and unboosted it is very quick, boosted....well I need to work on the handling . Is this typical? I would think that if the LXX works well unboosted with the 3.5 it would do the same with the 4.2. But then again it was very slow with the 3.0 that came installed. I haven't tried any of my other motors with the LXX yet.
Also as a side note the LXX has better steering. I noticed the microsizers steering pulls more to one side the faster the motor(I have adjusted the steering it is all the way to one side now in order to go almost straight). Is that because of the motor torque? In the MS I have the blue gears in with the 4.2 right now. With the purple Tomy tires in the rear and the ribbed hard tires in the front, and the red suspension arms with 1and 1/2 holes on either side. In the LXX I have the MS orange gears, stock LXX tires, stock suspension arm.
Also I bought 2 motors from this site. The RspecII and the formula34. The white one is faster than the blue one. Is that right? I thought it would be the opposite based on the pictures in the store.
Thanks for any help/info,
Tam

I got the 4.2 pro and the 4.2 at Toyeast.com. They were $4 for the 2 of them plus shipping. They are cool for going real fast. But so far the white motor I got from here I think has way better torque(sp?).

white motor is probably the formula 34. That is supposed to be a torque monster

yeah my 4.2 is a littel low on tourque but makes up for it with top end also lower gear ratios will get a little more tourque
i wonder if the 3.5 has the torque needed to get the unboosted lxx moving

As far as pulling to one side, that can be complicated and finiky. Bits usually are better, but some clones may drive straighter.
Start with the steering compartment. Open it up and make sure nothing is catching. If the steering spring is bent slightly, that will throw it off a bit. You can straighten it pretty easily. A dab of super glue at the top of the spring, where it wraps around the plastic will also improve it's control somewhat.
And lastly, the top piece that you have to take off in order to get to the steering compartment. take a small file and very slightly shave down the edges of all the parts that connect to the steering pieces. For example, the place where I recomended puting the super glue. Right above that point is a rectangular indent, with a notch, for that pieces movement. Sometimes that catches. File down the corners a little and make sure it's all smooth.
If your rear axle has come loose a little, then it will pull to one side. Put a tooth pick in between the plastic and the axle, from the back. Break off the extra wood on the toothpick. This will stabalize a loose rear axle and make sure all the power is going to both wheels equally.
I've never had a car I couldn't make go straight. Even my dual cells go perfectly straight.......with a little patients.

Micro S2000,
So your thinking that maybe it just needs more torque since it isn't sending as much power to the motor unboosted?

Thanks boho,
I just need to work up the courage to open up that part. Probably when my new car shows up.
