Thats a pretty cool tanny you got there. That would be a serious drag car if you got it to work. That looks very cool.

i think i understand what ur trying to do since i sorta tried to make a tranny from lego technic parts and from what i can see, it woudln't really shift since you got two gears on the top kinda locking the set of gears on the lower drive shaft.

good luck with it tho, i'm sure u can get it to work

hey everyone,
thanks for your comments and support, FLATLANDER- it only has two gears unfortunately, but the ratios are like 8.46:1 and 1:12, there are a few other kinks to work out, like the shift... when it shifts the white gear in the middle on the second shaft slide to engage one of the drive gears, i thought i could do that electromagenetically, like the steering but the magnet keeps pulling at the metal axels so i have to find a way to put in a second motor and work out a mechanical system which will probably eliminate neutral.. but also make it so you don't have to hold down the buttons all the time... anyway it has it's kinks, i'll work around them though.. post any questions or comments. i'll be happy to answer/read them

you should make some sort of gyro so when it pics up spped it shifts by it self.... like a clutch of some sort. like weights held on the axel with springs ...and they push out to the gear when the axel spins faster... oh i'll have to draw a pic.....

sorry bout the pic..drew it in paint instead of cad...
