Well, yes it reduces torque, but increases speed. the new axle slot was made with a hacksaw, gently making a slot, then i added some plastic around the slot for extra front/back support.

I just hold on the idler gear axel on my Kart with tape! I had to put a little piece of a paper clip under the back end of it to tilt the front down a little bit more.

Does it work though? Like, I don't mean top notch, but does it actually work, and the gears mesh correctly?

i made a tray that goes under the axle, with a handisnacks stick, which now holds the axle with some tape. The groove on the tray is a little too deep so it doesnt mesh perfectly but they would if it was the right depth, with a clone motor it just seems slower, it is much quieter but not silent, it also doenst want to go backwards, i dont think that i did something right, i dont have any batts for my digi cam so no pics right now, i am going to make a new bottom tray tonight.
xatu
just try it if you dont like it just put the axle back with the idler gear

Whoa!
That picture up there from T_T_52 is EXACTLY what I was planning on doing to my car (if I ever get one ), except I'm trying to find some pinion gears with like a million teeth so it would go REAL fast. That's gotta be the fastest car ever! (until I make mine).

alright i made a new tray, it works better but i still have no speed improvment, very little noise, not much acceleration, i am using 8.23 gears and some from a clone. oh and the motor i was using eariler was a zipzap 1.0 so it was going pretty good for that. but now with the clone motor i thought i had in it doesnt seem to have enough touque to see an improvment, if someone wants to give me a motor to try out I also need to glue the wheels on the axle they are moving a little too much.
