ahhh... flame wars gotta love them...
well anyway.. imports for me all the way. there are too many people out there that give imports a bad name, birght paint, loud exhaust, big double decker plastic wing.....
i like the whole loud look, but it's obvious that you need some sort of power to back it up. getting owned by old family cars is simply embarrassing...
my friend has a serious POS civic, 92 generation... it looks poor, sounds loud, and has a metal wing on the back... looks pure rice... sounds pure rice... even the custom paint looks ricey, and it's just white.... people laugh until they see the intercooler
B18C swapped, custorm turbo'd... tooo fun to eat white rice with... (bodykitted mustangs, cavs, cougers with loud exhausts)... and even the old 400 hp mach 1 in my neighborhood... they're good friends, so no hate ^___^
just take a closer look before you laugh at the next civic you see.. chances are it's the good old stock block under there, but be careful

Plymouth gives you some hints. But, it wont happen because the Pacifica is doing pretty good for a crossover now.

Most "muscle cars" are only good for one thing...straight line racing...oh wowie your car can go straight really fast...but thats it.
Most imports, be it asian or euro, have good to crazy handling skills, and many can out run the "muscle cars" of the 60-70's while still getting over 15mpg.
My dad has a 67 Dodge Coronet 440, with a built 440 pushing 400 hp (motor test, not at wheels). His car is built for cruising the streets, but even then it has horribly slow steering (gotta turn the wheel a good 10 times it seems), it moves ok in a straight line, but his car gets 10mpg when you baby it, and less when you run it hard.

First off the 440 Coronet wasn't built to do anything but go really fast in a straight line. The Mustang, Comaro, Challenger were built to handle. Just cause they're big and heavy doesn't mean American cars are slow handlers I dare you to go ride in a B body Mopar and say it don't handle well and ride like a caddy at the same time. just my $0.02.

now lets think about why an old muscle car with a steering box and a metal body would not be good for a road course compared to a newer car that has plastic body and power steering. nuff said. i like muscle and i also like well tuned imports. one thing i can't stand is when someone takes his moms civic paints it yellow adds the 17 layer 747 wing on the back and says it can beat a stang.
