The in-car "cripple cap" as detailed at
http://tinyrc.com/qfm/racing/mod_08.htm#29 (QFM's tip #29) is *NOT* a cripple cap.
It's the power supply RF bypass cap, responsible for reducing the
amount of RF noise on the receiver's power supply. Removing it
will make your Bit more susceptible to RF noise (including motor
noise). That's Bad.
You can verify this by looking at the back side of the board. The cap
is parallel with the leads from the electrolytic cap (black cylinder) that
sticks out the back of the board. If you're a masochist like me, you
can sit down and trace out the power routing on the board to prove it.
